Itinerary
Day 1 - Ahmedabad
We depart Ahmedabad for Dasada – a scenic 90 kilometre drive through Gujarat’s countryside and village landscapes. On arrival, we check in to the hotel and later head out on an afternoon safari in the Little Rann of Kutchh – a vast salt‑marsh sanctuary known for the Indian wild ass (khur), with sightings that may include flamingos, pelicans and desert foxes. After the safari, you can unwind at the property – take a gentle stroll or relax with a refreshing drink. Overnight in Dasada.
Day 2 - Dasada - Patan
Dasada to Dholavira – around 300 km. After breakfast we set out for Dholavira, visiting the Modhera Sun Temple and Rani ki Vav in Patan en route. At Modhera’s 11th century Sun Temple, dedicated to Surya, we explore the intricately carved complex – the stepwell, the Sabha Mandap and the Guda Mandap. We then continue to Rani ki Vav – a UNESCO World Heritage stepwell from the 11th century – known for seven tiers of sculpted panels illustrating the Dasavatara of Vishnu. On arrival in Dholavira – a major Indus Valley Civilisation site – we check in and settle in. You can spend the evening at leisure – perhaps reflect on the day over dinner and sample local flavours. Overnight at hotel.
Day 3 - Dholavira
We begin the day at Dholavira, exploring the archaeological site for a clear view of early urban planning – from its sophisticated water conservation system and large stadium to neatly laid streets that reflect the life of the Indus Valley civilisation. After a morning of discovery, we drive approximately 90 kilometres to Hodka as the scenery shifts towards the White Rann of Kutchh. On arrival we check into our resort – rustic charm with contemporary comforts – then, as the sun sets, we visit the White Rann to watch the salt flats mirror the changing colours of the sky. Overnight at the resort.
Day 4 - Hodka
Hodka – Full-day exploration of the White Rann of Kutch. We spend today on the vast salt flats, taking in the stark, open landscape and the sense of space that stretches to the horizon. We also visit Hodka and neighbouring villages to meet local artisans, learning about traditional Rogan painting, intricate embroidery and pottery that have been practised here for generations. You may choose to try a simple piece yourself under an artisan’s guidance. As evening approaches, we return to the White Rann to watch sunset – a serene close to the day as the sky shifts through soft oranges and pinks. Overnight at the resort.
Day 5 - Hodka
Depart Hodka for Bhuj on a scenic drive of around 80 kilometres. En route we stop in Banni village, known for its vibrant arts and crafts, to see traditional embroidery with bold patterns and bright colours and to meet the artisans who create it. Continue to Bhuj and check in to your hotel. The evening is at leisure – you can explore the local markets or relax at the hotel. Overnight in Bhuj.
Day 6 - Bhuj
We spend the day exploring Bhuj’s palaces and craft traditions. We begin at Aina Mahal – an 18th century Hall of Mirrors noted for intricate mirror work and Venetian chandeliers – then continue to Prag Mahal, an Italian Gothic–style palace with a striking clock tower and an ornate durbar hall. We then visit Bhujodi to observe traditional handloom weaving that has been practised for generations. We finish at the local markets, where you can browse and shop for textiles and handicrafts at your own pace. Later, we return to Hodka for the night. Overnight in Hodka.
Day 7 - Bhuj
Hodka – Bhuj – 65 km – around 1 hour 20 minutes. We drive from Hodka to Bhuj and transfer you to the airport for your onward journey. As you travel, reflect on the archaeological sites, artisan communities and striking salt desert landscapes experienced across Kutch.
