En route, we stop in Gadag to explore its ancient temples and finely carved sculpture that reflect the region’s long history, then continue to Lakkundi to see its stepwells, ruins and Jain temples renowned for their stonework – ideal for photographs. On reaching Hampi – a UNESCO World Heritage Site on the Tungabhadra River – we check you in at your hotel. You can unwind and settle in, ready for the days ahead. Overnight at hotel.
Day 2 - Exploring Hampi
After breakfast, we set out on a full day of guided exploration in Hampi’s UNESCO–listed ruins. We begin at the Hazara Rama Temple, where finely carved bas–reliefs illustrate episodes from the Ramayana. We continue through the Royal Enclosures to the Mahanavami Dibba – once a stage for royal ceremonies – and the Queen’s Bath, a well–preserved pavilion with elegant arches and water channels. We then visit Virupaksha Temple, one of India’s oldest functioning temples, and take in its towering gopuram and intricate carvings.
After lunch, we explore the Vithala Temple Complex, renowned for the Stone Chariot. We admire the sculpted pillars of the Ranga Mandapa and the celebrated musical pillars. Later, we visit more of Hampi’s highlights, including the graceful Lotus Mahal and the Queen’s Bath.
As evening approaches, we take a leisurely stroll through Hampi Bazaar – you can browse for local handicrafts, jewellery and souvenirs. We then head up Hemakuta Hill for sunset views across the boulder–strewn landscape and historic monuments, before returning to the hotel. Overnight in Hampi.
Day 3 - Hampi to Bijapur
After breakfast, we leave Hampi for Bijapur – around 220 km and approximately 4 hours by road – a city renowned for the architectural legacy of the Adil Shahi dynasty. On arrival, we check in and freshen up before heading out to explore. Within Bijapur Fort we visit Gol Gumbaz, famed for its vast dome and whispering gallery – and we climb to the top for panoramic views of the city. We continue to Ibrahim Rouza, often called the Taj Mahal of the Deccan, to appreciate its refined symmetry, then visit Asar Mahal to see its intricate woodwork and paintings. We also take in the striking, unfinished arches of nearby Bara Kaman. The day concludes at Jama Masjid, one of the largest mosques in India, before we return to the hotel to relax. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 4 - Bijapur to Aihole & Badami
Bijapur – Badami (120 km – approx. 2.3 hours). After a leisurely breakfast, we drive to Badami, known for its cave temples and Chalukyan era monuments. En route, we stop at Aihole – often called the cradle of Indian architecture – to explore its temples and monuments dating to the 6th century. We continue to Pattadakal, a UNESCO World Heritage Site noted for temple architecture representing both Hindu and Jain traditions.
On arrival in Badami, we check in at the hotel and you have some time to relax. Later, we visit the Badami Cave Temples, carved from sandstone cliffs with detailed sculptures and reliefs of Hindu deities, before exploring the Bhutanatha group of temples beside Agastya Lake. We return to the hotel to unwind. Overnight at the hotel.

Keep your camera handy – with luck, you may spot elephants, leopards, tigers and abundant birdlife, while we learn about local conservation efforts as we pass dense forests, waterfalls and streams. We return to the resort at dusk to relax – in the evening we gather around a bonfire to unwind in the quiet of the forest. Overnight at the resort.

We continue to the Church of Our Lady of Miracles and the Church of Our Lady of the Rosary to appreciate their historic architecture. We then head to Aguada Fort, a 17th century Portuguese stronghold overlooking the Arabian Sea, where we take in wide coastal views.
In Panjim, we explore the lively streets and markets – you can browse for souvenirs, handicrafts, jewellery and local specialities as you wish. We visit Fontainhas, the Latin Quarter, to see its colourful Portuguese era buildings, cafés and galleries.
