Day 1 - Dublin
Welcome to Dublin! Upon your arrival, we will arrange your transfer to the hotel where you can settle in and enjoy some free time to familiarise yourself with the vibrant city. Later this afternoon, check the boards in the hotel reception for all the essential details about the commencement of your tour. Take this opportunity to relax and prepare for the exciting days ahead as you explore the enchanting Irish capital. Please note: This tour may have travellers joining or departing at various points along the route, meaning group composition can change during the tour. Please also be aware that depending on group composition, guiding may be in additional languages as well as English.
Day 2 - Dublin
We'll begin the day by embarking on a panoramic tour of Dublin, Ireland's tranquil capital. As we stroll along the banks of the River Liffey, we'll explore its lush parks, the historic university, and the lively streets of the city centre. Our tour will include a view of the exterior of Trinity College, an iconic institution enriched with history. The afternoon is yours to enjoy as you wish, offering an open invitation for you to dive deeper into Dublin’s rich cultural tapestry at your own pace. Please note that occasionally, depending on our arrival time in Dublin and the available daylight, this tour may be conducted on the previous afternoon.
Day 3 - Dublin - Caernarfon - Liverpool
On the third day, we'll embark on an early morning ferry from Dublin, taking approximately three to three and a half hours to reach the shores of Wales. Our initial stop will be Caernarfon, a coastal town recognised as a World Heritage Site, famed for its striking castle. You will have some time here to enjoy lunch and explore the area at your own pace. Afterward, we'll continue onwards to Liverpool, celebrated for its rich history and as a World Heritage Site. Upon arrival, we will take a brief bus tour of the city. If you're interested, you'll have the opportunity to visit The Beatles Museum, immersing yourself in the musical heritage of this iconic city.
Day 4 - Liverpool - Chester - Lichfield - Birmingham
After a hearty breakfast, we make our way to the historic town of Chester, located near the Welsh border. Known for its well-preserved Roman amphitheatre and commanding medieval walls, Chester offers a rich tapestry of history and architecture for you to explore at your own pace. Take the morning to wander through the charming streets and absorb the city's unique blend of the ancient and the medieval.Next, we pause for lunch in the quaint town of Lichfield, a delightful spot known for its cobbled streets and the remarkable three-spired medieval cathedral. The town's historic buildings and charming centre provide a perfect backdrop for a leisurely lunch break.Our journey then takes us to Birmingham, the UK's second-largest city, which flourished during the Industrial Revolution and has now become a lively centre of economic and cultural growth. Here, we suggest a pleasant stroll around the town hall and along the extensive canal network, which intriguingly surpasses even Venice in scope. These canals are now bustling with restaurants and entertainment venues, offering a vibrant taste of city life. As the day winds down, you can soak in Birmingham's dynamic atmosphere before we move on.
Day 5 - Birmingham - Stratford - Stow-on-the-Wold - Gloucester - Bath
Today, we journey from Birmingham to the historic city of Stratford-upon-Avon, established along the River Avon in the 12th century. As the birthplace of William Shakespeare, Stratford offers the opportunity to explore the house where the famed playwright was born, should you wish to do so. Our travels will then take us through a picturesque landscape dotted with charming villages, leading us to Stow-on-the-Wold. This delightful village is known for its stone houses and a quaint square, surrounded by art galleries and antique shops. We’ll continue to the city of Gloucester, where you can enjoy lunch at the lively docks. Take time to explore the historic centre, including the magnificent Gloucester Cathedral, which has notably been a filming location for some scenes of the Harry Potter series. Our day concludes in Bath, renowned for its Roman baths and elegant Georgian architecture. If you wish, you can visit the Roman baths to further enrich your experience.
Day 6 - Bath - Stonehenge - Salisbury - London
After enjoying some time in Bath, where you have the option to visit the renowned Roman baths, we continue our journey through the picturesque landscapes of southern England. Our next stop is the iconic Stonehenge, where we provide admission to explore this world-famous prehistoric monument, characterised by its enigmatic circle of stones. Following our exploration of Stonehenge, we proceed to Salisbury. Here, you'll have the opportunity to savour lunch amidst the charm of its medieval centre before we visit its remarkable cathedral, with entrance included. Marvel at the impressive spire, the tallest in England. As the day draws to a close, we return to London, ensuring you arrive with cherished memories of your travels. Please double-check your flight schedule, as you might require an additional night's stay.
