Day 1 - Dublin
Welcome to your tour! Upon your arrival in Dublin, we'll provide you with a transfer to your hotel where you'll be able to settle in and unwind. The rest of the afternoon will be free for you to explore or relax as you wish. Look out for information about the start of your journey, which will be available on the boards in the hotel reception. Enjoy this initial taste of Ireland’s capital as you prepare for the exciting adventures ahead. Please note: This tour may have travellers joining or departing at various points along the route, meaning group composition can change during the tour. Please also be aware that depending on group composition, guiding may be in additional languages as well as English.
Day 2 - Dublin
We begin our day with a panoramic tour of Dublin, the tranquil capital city of Ireland. As we take a leisurely stroll along the banks of the River Liffey, we'll explore the city's beautiful parks, its historic university, and the vibrant streets of the city centre. Our tour includes a view of the exterior of the esteemed Trinity College. The afternoon is yours to enjoy at your own pace—whether you choose to delve deeper into the city's history or simply soak up the atmosphere. Please note, there are occasions when, depending on our arrival time in Dublin and the daylight hours, this tour may be conducted on the previous afternoon.
Day 3 - Dublin - Powerscourt - Kilkenny - Cashel - Cork
On day three of our journey, we bid farewell to Dublin and embark on a scenic trip to Powerscourt. There, we will explore the renowned Powerscourt Gardens, crafted in the 18th century, and lauded as Ireland's most exquisite. You will have the opportunity to marvel at the intricate fountains, graceful Japanese Gardens, and even the unique pet cemetery – all admission is included. Our exploration continues as we head to the lively town of Kilkenny, where you'll have time to enjoy lunch and wander through its charming streets. The adventure doesn't stop here; we'll visit the Rock of Cashel, a majestic medieval fortress steeped in history as a symbol of Ireland's historical struggles. After absorbing the cultural richness of Cashel, our journey continues to Cork, Ireland's second-largest city. We will arrive in the evening, allowing you time to take a leisurely stroll through its vibrant city centre before we gather for an included dinner.
Day 4 - Cork - Kinsale - Killarney - Limerick
Today, we embark on a delightful journey from Cork to Kinsale, allowing us a short pause at Charles Fort, where you can soak in magnificent ocean vistas alongside this remarkable 17th-century stronghold. You'll have time to explore Kinsale's charming historic centre, celebrated as one of Ireland's most beautiful coastal towns. Our travels then take us to Killarney, nestled in the heart of Ireland and renowned as a favoured tourist spot. Here, enjoy lunch and a casual stroll around town before the highlight of your day – a jaunting car tour through the stunning National Park (included), which meanders through lush gardens and skirts the lake, concluding at Ross Castle with its captivating lakeside views. Additionally, indulge in a short cruise to appreciate the picturesque lake surroundings. Continuing on, we'll make a brief stop in Adare, a quaint village preserving its stone and thatched-roof cottages, along with the ruins of an ancient abbey. Arriving by mid-afternoon in Limerick, you'll have free time to explore the city centre, visit the castle, ramble along the river, explore the cathedral, or peruse the shops. Dinner will be provided, offering a delightful end to the day.
Day 5 - Limerick - Cliffs of Moher - Galway
Today, we delve into the heart of Ireland's heritage with a visit to Bunratty Folk Park. Here, we’ll explore the traditional cottages and bustling market stalls, offering a glimpse into Ireland’s past. The site’s castle is a well-preserved example of medieval life, complete with authentic furnishings and settings. Next, we head to Caherconnell to see the Poulnabrone Dolmen—an ancient portal tomb. If we're lucky, we'll witness a sheepdog demonstration, showcasing the skill and precision of these remarkable animals.Our journey continues to the breathtaking Cliffs of Moher, where we'll gaze out over the ocean from these awe-inspiring heights (entrance included). For those inclined, there is the option to walk to O’Brien’s Tower for even more stunning views. As we travel onwards, the unique karst landscape of Burren National Park unfolds before us, with its striking rock formations and rich flora. Our day concludes with an evening arrival in the vibrant city of Galway.
Day 6 - Galway - Clonmacnoise - Dublin
Today, we set off for Cong, a picturesque village nestled in a stunning lake district. Our exploration will include the ruins of the Royal Abbey, offering a glimpse into the area's monastic history, and a leisurely walk around Ashford Castle, a grand medieval structure now serving as a luxury hotel. From here, we journey to Clonmacnoise, where we'll immerse ourselves in the rich Celtic heritage of its ancient monastic ruins, accompanied by a guided tour (admission included). Continuing our road trip, we return to Dublin in the evening, ready to reflect on the day's adventures.
Day 7 - Dublin - Caernarfon - Liverpool
On the seventh day of our journey, we set off early to catch a ferry from Dublin, embarking on a three to three-and-a-half-hour crossing to the shores of Wales. Our first destination is the charming coastal town of Caernarfon, renowned for its impressive castle – a recognised World Heritage Site. Here, you'll have some time to enjoy lunch and explore the area at your leisure, soaking up the historical atmosphere. Later, we continue our travels to Liverpool. This vibrant city, which also boasts World Heritage status, is famed for having the United Kingdom's second-largest port. In Liverpool, we will take you on a brief bus tour to gain an overview of this culturally rich city. If you're interested, you might wish to visit The Beatles Museum during your time here.
Day 8 - Liverpool - Stratford - Oxford - London
Today, we journey through the heart of central England, starting with a visit to Stratford-upon-Avon, the birthplace of William Shakespeare. Here, you'll have free time to enjoy lunch and explore the charming streets of this historic town. We then continue to Oxford, a city famed for its prestigious university and its long-standing influence on education and culture. Oxford has been a cradle for many great minds, having educated kings, politicians, philosophers, and scientists. Finally, we'll make our way to London, arriving in the evening, where you'll have plenty of opportunities to dive into the vibrant life of the capital.
Day 9 - London
Following breakfast, our tour concludes, leaving you with cherished memories of your travels. As you bid farewell to London, take a moment to reflect on the unique experiences and discoveries from your journey. Safe travels onwards!
