Itinerary
Day 1 - Lima to Huaraz
We begin by boarding a shared bus in Lima for the journey to Huaraz, a gateway to some of Peru's most remarkable walks and stunning Andean scenery, including snow-capped peaks and turquoise lagoons. Upon arrival at the bus station, a shared coach will transfer us to the hotel for check-in. The afternoon is yours to relax or explore the local area at your own pace. Overnight in Huaraz.
Day 2 - Huaraz
After breakfast, we will collect you at around 09:30 to begin a journey through the stunning Callejon de Huaylas valley, carved by the Santa River and nestled between the Cordillera Blanca and Cordillera Negra mountain ranges. Along the way, we will visit the towns of Carhuaz, Mancos and Yungay. As we ascend towards the Cordillera Blanca, the landscape becomes increasingly dramatic, dominated by the towering Huandoy and Huascaran peaks - the latter being Peru's highest mountain. These peaks form a striking U-shaped canyon that cradles the two turquoise Llanganuco lagoons. You will enter the heart of Huascaran National Reserve, a vast natural laboratory where you can observe the diverse flora and fauna of the Andes. Continuing the ascent, we pass the Paron stream and arrive at Paron Lagoon, the largest in the Cordillera Blanca, renowned for its vivid turquoise waters set against spectacular glaciers. We will take a walk along the lagoon's shore to fully appreciate the surrounding mountains. After lunch, we return to Huaraz for an overnight stay.
Day 3 - Trekking Laguna 69
After breakfast, we will pick you up at around 07:00 am for one of the most remarkable treks in the Andes - the journey to Laguna 69. This tranquil turquoise lagoon lies beneath towering snow-capped peaks, offering a striking natural spectacle. We leave Huaraz and travel to Cebollapampa, the trek-s starting point. The walk covers approximately 6 kilometres and takes around three hours at a moderate pace, suitable for adults. Along the route, you will encounter impressive Andean landscapes before reaching the lagoon, where you can take time to explore and soak in the surroundings. After a snack, we return to Cebollapampa and then transfer back to Huaraz for your overnight stay.
Day 4 - Return to Lima
After breakfast, we transfer you to the bus station for your departure from Huaraz. Your journey concludes in Lima, where you can continue with your onward travel plans at your leisure.
