Kick off in Madrid and wind through Andalusia before crossing into Portugal – a 10–day journey ending in Lisbon. You’ll explore Granada’s Moorish quarters and clifftop Ronda, then dive into Seville’s Cathedral and barrios with a leisurely Guadalquivir cruise. Expect to see superb Roman Mérida, whitewashed Évora and Alentejo hill towns, plus Tomar’s Templar legacy and time at the Fátima Sanctuary. Up north, enjoy Porto’s Douro by rabelo boat, Braga’s cathedral and the Bom Jesus funicular, with a taste of Aveiro’s canals. Round things off via Coimbra and ocean views en route, then finish among Lisbon’s viewpoints, azulejos and Belém monuments.

Day 1 - Madrid - Granada
Welcome to your tour. We depart Madrid early, travelling south across La Mancha to stop in Puerto Lápice – a classic Manchego village linked with Don Quixote. We then continue via Despeñaperros into Andalusia, arriving in Granada for an included lunch. The afternoon is free – you could visit the Cathedral, which houses the tombs of the Catholic Monarchs, or wander the Albaicín neighbourhood and take in Alhambra views from the Mirador de San Nicolás. Please note that admission to the Alhambra is not included on this tour; if you wish to visit, we recommend booking through the official site https://tickets.alhambra-patronato.es or with companies that organise city visits.

Day 2 - Granada - Nerja - Malaga - Ronda - Seville
Today we leave Granada, skirting the Sierra Nevada before following the Mediterranean along the Tropical Coast – a mild microclimate where guavas, mangoes and avocados grow, and sugar cane was once cultivated. We stop in Nerja, a seaside town set against impressive cliffs, then continue to Málaga, capital of the Costa del Sol. You’ll have time for lunch and to wander the historic centre. In the afternoon we head inland into the Andalusian sierras to reach Ronda, a white town famed for the deep gorge that divides it. We then continue to Seville, arriving in the late afternoon – we include dinner at the hotel.
Day 3 - Seville
This morning we set out on a guided tour of Seville, taking in the Cathedral and its Giralda, the banks of the Guadalquivir, and the atmospheric districts of Santa Cruz and Triana. After the tour, we include a leisurely boat cruise on the Guadalquivir that offers panoramic views of the city. The evening is free – you can choose to attend a flamenco tablao performance.
Day 4 - Seville - Merida - Evora
We depart Seville, travelling through gentle mountains and wide pastures towards Extremadura. In Mérida, we include entry to the Archaeological Ensemble – featuring the Roman Theatre and Amphitheatre – a UNESCO World Heritage Site. There will be time for lunch and to explore the lively pedestrian historic centre, full of restaurants. We then continue into Portugal, arriving in Évora, another UNESCO site known for its white streets, Renaissance palaces and cathedral. You’ll have free time to explore.
Day 5 - Evora - Marvão - Castelo de Vide - Tomar - Fatima
We’ll travel through the rolling landscapes of the Alentejo, stopping first in Marvão – a picturesque walled town with far‑reaching views. We then continue to Castelo de Vide and its striking castle. There will be time to stroll the old Jewish quarter – you can visit the medieval synagogue, now a small museum, or simply wander the winding lanes. After lunch, we continue to Tomar to visit the Convent of Christ – admission included – a former castle and convent of the Order of the Templars.Before reaching Fátima, we stop in Aljustrel, the village where the three young shepherds who witnessed the Virgin Mary’s apparitions were born – we’ll see Lucia’s house. On arrival in Fátima, you’ll have free time at the Sanctuary – you can attend the candlelight procession if you wish, though it is not held in winter. Dinner is included.
Day 6 - Fatima - Porto
We travel to northern Portugal, arriving in Porto – the country’s second–largest city – around 11:00. On arrival, we enjoy a 50–minute cruise on the Douro aboard a traditional Portuguese rabelo boat, offering a different perspective on the city’s riverside. Afterwards, you have free time to explore the lively Ribeira district, known for its narrow streets, historic merchant houses and cafés, before we head to the hotel.
Day 7 - Porto - Braga - Bom Jesus - Guimarães - Aveiro - Coimbra
We journey through the beautiful landscapes of northern Portugal, beginning with a stroll in Braga, Portugal’s religious capital, to see its ancient cathedral. We then take the world’s oldest funicular up to the Sanctuary of Bom Jesus for superb views – you may wish to walk down to appreciate the grand baroque stairway. Next, we continue to Guimarães, Portugal’s first capital, where the Palace of the Dukes recalls the city’s historic importance. You’ll have free time for lunch.In the afternoon we travel west to the Atlantic and Aveiro, known as the Venice of Portugal for its canals and colourful houses. We include a ride on a traditional moliceiro boat to explore the waterways and salt flats, with a tasting of a typical local sweet on board. We continue to Coimbra, arriving in the late afternoon – dinner is included at the hotel.
Day 8 - Coimbra - Batalha - Nazare - Obidos - Lisbon
We spend time in Coimbra – Portugal’s third-largest city – known for its historic university and steep, characterful streets. Continuing south, we visit Batalha Monastery – admission included – an impressive medieval mausoleum of kings. In Nazaré, a traditional fishing town and seaside resort, you’ll have time for lunch and a stroll before we take the elevator up to the old city – tickets included – for impressive ocean views. Travelling on towards Lisbon, we stop in Óbidos, one of Portugal’s most beautiful towns, where you can wander its picturesque white streets adorned with flowers. We arrive in Lisbon at approximately 7.30 pm.
Day 9 - Lisbon
This morning we set out on a sightseeing tour of Lisbon – we take in the capital’s seven hills, narrow lanes and signature azulejos, and we visit the Belém neighbourhood, from where Portuguese navigators set sail in the 15th century. The afternoon is free – you can wander up to Bairro Alto and its viewpoint, or join an optional excursion to Sintra, Cascais and Estoril. In the evening, we return to the hotel from lively Restauradores Square, which has plenty of bars and cafés.
Day 10 - Lisbon
After breakfast at the hotel, we conclude our journey in Lisbon – leaving you with wonderful memories of your trip.
