Day 1 - Zurich
Welcome to your tour of Zurich! Upon arrival, we will arrange your transfer to the hotel, and the rest of the day is yours to explore at your leisure. In the afternoon, please check the information boards at the hotel reception for details about the start of your tour. Enjoy your introduction to this vibrant city. Please note: This tour may have travellers joining or departing at various points along the route, meaning group composition can change during the tour. Please also be aware that depending on group composition, guiding may be in additional languages as well as English.
Day 2 - Zurich
Today, we'll delve into Zurich, the bustling centre of Switzerland, celebrated as a financial and cultural hub. Notably, Zurich has been twice acclaimed for offering the best quality of life globally. With our knowledgeable guide, we'll navigate the city and uncover its rich blend of history and modern charm. Following our city exploration, we'll embark on a delightful two-hour cruise on Lake Zurich, where brief halts will allow us to appreciate the quaint villages that dot the lake's picturesque shoreline. Our journey concludes in Rapperswil, a charming village renowned for its well-preserved medieval castle. We'll return to Zurich by train, a chance to witness the famed efficiency and punctuality of the Swiss railways. Please note, depending on our group size, transfers to and from the city centre might utilise public transport.
Day 3 - Zurich - Lucerne - Zurich
We embark on a journey through some of Switzerland's most breathtaking landscapes today, with towering mountains and serene lakes setting the scene. Our first destination is the Interlaken region, which promises extraordinary views. In Grindelwald, we'll pause for a coffee break before embarking on a cable car ride up the mountain. From the top, a winding path leads to a thrilling suspended bridge. For those with a spirit of adventure, crossing the bridge offers unrivalled vistas of the surrounding glaciers. We'll savour lunch amidst these spectacular surroundings before making our descent.Our next stop is Lucerne, a city celebrated for its beauty and charm. Here, you'll have time to explore the delightful cityscape at your leisure. Later, we’ll return to Zurich, concluding a day filled with stunning scenery and memorable experiences. For those seeking further adventure, our guide will be offering an optional full-day excursion. This includes free time in Lucerne followed by a rotating cable car journey to the summit of Mount Titlis. At over 3,000 metres, the peak offers awe-inspiring views of the glacier and the Alps.
Day 4 - Zurich - Bellinzona - Como - Milan
We depart Zurich early in the morning, embarking on a scenic journey across the Alps to reach Switzerland's Italian-speaking region. Our first stop is Bellinzona, famous for its trio of medieval castles, which are proudly listed as UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Positioned on the hills overlooking the city, these impressive fortresses underscore Bellinzona's historical importance as a strategic alpine stronghold. You'll have some free time to explore the charming streets of the town centre at your leisure. We then cross the border into Italy, stopping in the enchanting town of Como for lunch. Often referred to as the jewel of Lombardy, Como is renowned for its stunning lakeside gardens and its magnificent cathedral. Our journey continues to Milan, where our guide will introduce you to the grand Piazza del Duomo. Here, you'll have some time to stroll around and soak in the vibrant atmosphere before we transfer you to your hotel.
Day 5 - Milan - Pisa - Rome
On day five, we continue our adventure by heading to Pisa. Our journey includes a ride on a small tourist train to the renowned Piazza dei Miracoli, or Square of Miracles. Here, you will have the opportunity to marvel at one of Italy's most stunning art complexes, featuring the iconic Leaning Tower of Pisa. After appreciating the architectural wonders of this historic area, we will make our way to Rome, arriving later in the afternoon or evening.
Day 6 - Rome
In the morning, we’ll embark on a three-hour guided exploration of Rome, a city entrenched in history and a cornerstone of Western civilisation. Our journey will seamlessly blend a stroll through Imperial Rome with a panoramic bus tour, allowing us to witness the grandeur of the city. Among the highlights, we’ll see the Arch of Constantine, the exterior of the world-renowned Colosseum, and the Imperial Forums. The tour will also take us past the Circus Maximus, the historic Baths of Caracalla, the beautiful Basilica of Saint Mary Major, the distinctive Pyramid of Cestius, and the impressive Castel Sant'Angelo. We will conclude our tour at Vatican City around 11 a.m. Here, our guide will propose an optional visit to the Vatican Museums and the Sistine Chapel, offering a deeper dive into Rome's rich tapestry of history and art. As the day winds down, we'll transfer you to the Trastevere neighbourhood, famous for its charming restaurants and vibrant atmosphere. You'll return to the hotel around 8:30 p.m.
Day 7 - Rome
As your journey concludes, enjoy a leisurely breakfast before bidding farewell to Rome, with plenty of cherished memories to take home.
