Day 1 - Dubai
Welcome to the Emirates! Upon arrival at the airport, you'll be transferred to your hotel. As evening approaches, we'll embark on a captivating tour of Dubai, a city that dazzles as night falls. Witness the mesmerising spectacle of the Dubai Fountain, where water dances in harmony with music and lights, all set against the backdrop of the towering Burj Khalifa – the tallest building in the world at 828 metres. You'll have free time to explore and dine at the colossal Dubai Mall, where dinner is at your own discretion. After an enchanting evening, we'll return to the hotel for a relaxing night. Please note: This tour may have travellers joining or departing at various points along the route, meaning group composition can change during the tour. Please also be aware that depending on group composition, guiding may be in additional languages as well as English.
Day 2 - Dubai
Our second day in Dubai offers a captivating journey through the city's past and present. We start by visiting the breathtaking 'Dubai Frame', giving us panoramic views of the city's contrasting old and modern skylines from this iconic architectural landmark. Next, we explore the heritage-rich neighbourhoods with a stroll through the bustling Bur Dubai and Spice Souqs, absorbing the vibrant local atmosphere. An authentic Emirati experience awaits as we glide across the creek in an Abra, a traditional boat, to Al Fahidi Historical Neighbourhood. Here, we’ll delve deeper into local culture at the Centre for Cultural Understanding, housed in a traditional building where we'll also savour a typical Emirati meal. Should our group exceed 15, you can look forward to a fascinating discussion about the nuances of the country's cuisine.Continuing our journey in the afternoon, we pass by the imposing Jumeirah Mosque, admired for its stunning architecture. Our tour takes us to glimpse the iconic sail-shaped Burj Al Arab hotel and Palm Jumeirah—a marvel of engineering with its distinctive palm layout. We will then experience a ride on the sleek, contemporary monorail, providing splendid views, and enjoy a leisurely walk through the sophisticated surroundings of the Marina. The day culminates with free time at JBR Beach, known for its lively ambience and beautiful coastline, where you can unwind and soak in the vibrant atmosphere of one of Dubai's most popular spots.
Day 3 - Dubai - Abu Dhabi
After breakfast, we set off for Abu Dhabi, the nation's largest emirate and capital city. Our first stop en route is the Ferrari World outdoor area, where we catch a glimpse of the theme park dedicated to the iconic luxury car brand. Upon arriving in Abu Dhabi, we visit the magnificent Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, the largest mosque in the Emirates, renowned for its stunning white marble architecture and expansive 12-hectare grounds. This cultural landmark is a centre for interfaith dialogue and understanding. Next, we drive by the innovative Capital Gate building, famed for being the most tilted skyscraper in the world at 160 metres high. Along the scenic Corniche, we enjoy panoramic views of the city's skyline. Our tour includes entry to the Heritage Village, where we immerse ourselves in Emirati history and craftsmanship, browsing its quaint shops and informative museums. Lunch is provided in the city centre.In the afternoon, we visit Qasr Al Watan, the grand presidential palace, an architectural gem featuring a striking 37-metre dome and an elaborate chandelier crafted from 350,000 glass pieces. Following this, we head to the cultural district, home to several notable museums, including the sea-facing Louvre Abu Dhabi, celebrated for its impressive design and world-class collection. You have time to explore one of the museums or enjoy the area's vibrant atmosphere. We also visit the Abrahamic Family House, a remarkable complex bringing together a church, mosque, and synagogue, symbolising unity and tolerance.As evening falls, our journey takes us to The Founders Memorial, honouring Sheikh Zayed, the founding father of the Emirates. Here we admire "The Constellation" art installation, beautifully illuminated at night. Enjoy this opportunity to reflect on the day as we soak in the heritage and contemporary achievements of Abu Dhabi.
Day 4 - Abu Dhabi - Jeddah
After breakfast, we'll transfer to the airport for your included flight to Jeddah. Welcome to Saudi Arabia—a land of striking contrasts that promises unforgettable experiences. Upon arrival, you'll be transferred to your hotel in Jeddah, the second-largest city in the country, set against the backdrop of the Red Sea and home to over four million residents.At 7 PM, we will gather at the hotel reception to meet our guide. We'll embark on an evening stroll through the historic centre, known as Al-Balad, recognised by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. This area is famed for its collection of winding medieval alleyways and houses boasting coral structures and ornate wooden balconies. The atmospheric night-time illumination adds an alluring touch to the neighbourhood and offers a perfect setting to explore its charming restaurants.
Day 5 - Jeddah
On our fifth day in Jeddah, we will delve into this city of remarkable contrasts, guided by a local expert. Much of Jeddah is currently undergoing significant redevelopment as it aims to emerge as a major global metropolis. Among these ambitious projects is the Jeddah Tower, set to rise over 1,000 metres high, destined to be the tallest building worldwide upon completion. Our exploration begins at the Corniche, a bustling waterfront with stunning vistas, seaside mosques, and vibrant recreational areas. Here, we will admire the King Fahd Fountain, famed for its towering water jets that soar over 300 metres into the sky. Next, we will stop by the lively and colourful fish market before visiting Al Taybat International City. This beautiful architectural complex is home to fascinating history and ethnography museums. Our adventure continues as we revisit the historic centre, entering through Bab Makkah, Jeddah's most prominent gateway, to explore the elegant Beit Salloum, now a museum. We will also pass by the Eve Cemetery, traditionally believed to be the resting place of Eve, the wife of Adam. You'll have free time to choose your own lunch in a nearby shopping centre, offering a variety of dining options.In the afternoon, we will visit the Al Rahma Mosque, famously known as the Floating Mosque, due to its placement on the Red Sea, supported by pillars in the water. Afterwards, we will explore the lively marina, which hosts the Formula 1 racetrack.
Day 6 - Jeddah - Medina
Following breakfast, we venture into the heart of Arabia, travelling through vast deserts and mountainous terrain via expansive highways to reach the holy city of Medina, often referred to as "the luminous city." On arrival around midday, we will pause at a large shopping centre at the city’s entrance where you can enjoy lunch at the food court, selecting your preferred dining option. Medina stands as one of Islam's two most sacred cities, historically restricted to Muslim pilgrims and still revered as a major spiritual destination. Visitors are advised to dress respectfully and be mindful of local customs and traditions.Our exploration begins with a stroll around the magnificent Prophet's Mosque (Al Masjid an Nabawi), a vast sacred space with ten minarets, accommodating up to a million worshippers, and housing the resting place of the Prophet himself, having been built by him originally. We will then visit Mount Uhud, a significant pilgrimage site where the Prophet's followers battled the forces of Mecca; you may explore the large expanse and ascend the mount, maintaining respectful silence amid the throng of pilgrims.Next, we visit the Quba Mosque, recognised as the first mosque in Islam established by the Prophet and his followers in 622, though the current structure is contemporary. From here, we walk to the Ethiq garden and well, where local tribes once gathered to welcome and offer water to the Prophet and his companions upon their arrival in Medina following the Mecca persecution. You will then have some leisure time to roam the city centre, explore the shopping districts or perhaps visit the Hejaz Railway Museum located in the historical Ottoman train station.Later in the afternoon, we will tour the Al Madinah Museum to delve into the city's rich history. As dusk falls, we return to the Al Masjid mosque to experience the profound scenes of thousands entering for prayer and admire the captivating evening illuminations. Dinner is included to conclude our enlightening day in Medina.
Day 7 - Medina - Buraidah
After breakfast, we will continue our journey eastward across a sparsely populated region, characterised by desert landscapes in a myriad of colours. We arrive in Buraidah, the capital of the El Qasim province, nestled in a vast oasis and home to over 600,000 residents. Upon arrival, you’ll have some free time for lunch. Later, we will explore this city, whose economy thrives on oasis agriculture, producing dates, lemons, oranges, and wheat. Every August, a massive date market attracts visitors from far and wide to trade this delicious fruit. We will visit the 'City of Dates,' which varies in activity according to the season, allowing us to sample this sweet treat from the palm. We’ll then have time for a stroll through the city centre, where you can explore its vibrant vegetable market, impressive mosque, jewellery souks, and bustling atmosphere. Dinner is included this evening.
Day 8 - Buraidah - Riyadh
In the early hours, we head to the world's largest camel market located in Buraidah, a site renowned for its significant cultural and economic importance, even housing a dedicated camel hospital. Following this, we journey along the historical route once travelled by pilgrims from Iraq to Mecca, dotted with ancient cities and oases. Our first stop is Ushaiger, where we'll explore the Heritage Village. Known for its abundant springs and oasis beauty, Ushaiger was a vital stop for pilgrims. You'll have the opportunity to stroll through its quaint streets, admiring the traditional Najdi architecture with intricate carved wooden doors, lovely windows, and distinctive triangular roofs. We also visit a small museum that showcases the village's rich history. Lunch is provided during our visit here.Continuing onwards, we traverse picturesque dune desert landscapes to Shaqra, a city experiencing growth spurred by its university. Here, we'll tour the fortified old town, marked by its charming old market and narrow adobe alleyways. Our journey then brings us to the city of Al Qasab, historically renowned for its salt and wheat production as well as its poets. We explore the walled city and nearby saline lagoons, where an impressive 200,000 tonnes of salt are produced annually. As evening approaches, we arrive in Riyadh, a vibrant capital bustling with energy and home to nearly eight million residents.
Day 9 - Riyadh
Today, we immerse ourselves in the vibrant capital of Saudi Arabia, Riyadh. Depending on the season, the order of our activities may vary. We will start with a visit to the awe-inspiring Kingdom Centre. Standing at over 300 metres, this tower offers breathtaking views of the city from its unique "bridge-shaped" observation deck. Our exploration continues at the National Museum, the largest in the country, nestled amidst a picturesque park. Here, we delve into the rich tapestry of Saudi history, culture, and art. Our journey through time takes us next to the Masmak Fortress, a historic structure where we can witness the remarkable transformation of Riyadh over the last century. After exploring the fortress, you'll have the opportunity to wander through the lively souks and bustling commercial district. For lunch, you can enjoy some free time at a nearby shopping centre, offering a variety of eateries to suit your taste.In the evening, we visit the Al Rajhi Mosque, the largest in Riyadh, showcasing stunning Andalusian architecture. Here, you'll have the chance to observe a prayer session and receive an insightful introduction to Islam. Our day concludes with an exhilarating visit to Riyadh City Boulevard, a hub of activity brimming with attractions, diverse dining options, live performances, and captivating displays of colourful fountains. You have free time to wander, dine at your leisure, and soak in the vibrant atmosphere before we return to the hotel.
Day 10 - Riyadh
As we bid farewell to the bustling streets of Riyadh, the day's adventure takes us to the historic city of Diriyah, located on the outskirts of the capital. Known for its pivotal role in the formation of the Saudi dynasty, Diriyah offers an insight into the rich heritage of the region. We'll journey through this beautifully restored city, appreciating its significance and architectural charm. Following our visit, we'll provide a transfer to the airport, arriving around 14:00.
