Day 1 - London
Upon your arrival in London, we will arrange for your transfer to the hotel, allowing you some free time to relax or explore the surroundings at your own pace. In the afternoon, you can find all the details about the start of your journey on the information boards located at the hotel reception. This sets the stage for your exciting adventure, giving you a taste of the vibrant energy that London offers. Please note: This tour may have travellers joining or departing at various points along the route, meaning group composition can change during the tour. Please also be aware that depending on group composition, guiding may be in additional languages as well as English.
Day 2 - London
In the morning, we will embark on a comprehensive tour of London, showcasing iconic landmarks including Westminster, the Houses of Parliament, and the scenic River Thames. Your afternoon is free for personal exploration. For those interested, we offer an optional visit to the picturesque Thames Valley, where you can discover the town of Windsor, home to the magnificent Windsor Castle. As the evening unfolds, we will gather at Piccadilly for a leisurely walk through the energetic neighbourhoods of Leicester Square, Chinatown, and Soho, famous for their lively ambiance, theatres, and entertainment options. Note that in some instances, this evening activity may be scheduled for the day of your arrival in London. Afterward, we will head back to the hotel by bus.
Day 3 - London
Today, you have the freedom to delve into London's unique allure at your own pace. Whether you're captivated by the city's rich history, world-class museums, or vibrant neighbourhoods, the choice is yours to uncover its many treasures. Explore iconic landmarks or perhaps discover hidden gems that capture the essence of this remarkable city.
Day 4 - London - Cambridge - York - Durham
Today, we set off from London towards the north of England. Our first destination is the renowned city of Cambridge, celebrated for its historic and picturesque university colleges. After a leisurely lunch, we continue our journey to the city of York. Here, you will be captivated by the awe-inspiring York Minster, explore the well-preserved Roman walls, and wander through the charming and bustling shopping streets. You will have some time to explore York at your own pace before we proceed to Durham. This medieval city is known for its vibrant atmosphere, and you'll find its impressive cathedral, standing proudly opposite the castle, truly remarkable.
Day 5 - Durham - Alnwick - Edinburgh
On the fifth day of our tour, we journey into Scotland, stopping first in the charming town of Alnwick. Known for its impressive gardens and medieval castle, Alnwick has gained additional fame as a filming location for the Harry Potter films. We then continue our travels towards Edinburgh, where we aim to arrive by midday. As the capital of Scotland and a hub of activity in Northern Europe, Edinburgh is home to a historic centre that boasts UNESCO World Heritage status. The city is distinguished by its steep streets and verdant parks, all overseen by the towering presence of Edinburgh Castle. We will enjoy a panoramic tour guided by a knowledgeable local, offering a fascinating insight into this vibrant city.
Day 6 - Edinburgh - Inverness - Loch Ness - Fort Augustus - Glasgow
Our day begins with a delightful journey through the Scottish Highlands. We start by enjoying a coffee and a relaxing walk in the charming village of Pitlochry, renowned for its picturesque beauty. Continuing north, we drive through Inverness, situated near the legendary Loch Ness. Our adventure includes a visit to the historic Urquhart Castle, where we will embark on a boat cruise across the mysterious waters of Loch Ness. As we journey southwards, we'll pass through Fort Augustus with its notable sluice system, and then on to Fort William, nestled at the foot of Ben Nevis, the UK’s highest peak. We will wind our way across the scenic high plateaus, where glimpses of snow often grace the landscape, and follow the delightful shores of Loch Lomond. We end our day in Glasgow, arriving as daylight fades.Note that for groups visiting between 15th November and February, the itinerary adjusts due to shorter daylight hours and weather conditions. We depart from Edinburgh at 8:00 am, heading to Pitlochry, known for its whisky production, and visit a traditional distillery. Our journey proceeds to Stirling, where we tour the historic centre and the imposing Stirling Castle, which has witnessed many significant events in Scottish history. After a lunch break, we will pause for photos at The Kelpies, iconic sculptures inspired by Scottish folklore, before completing our day in Glasgow by 5:00 pm, leaving some time to explore the city centre.
Day 7 - Glasgow - Belfast - Dublin
Today, we depart from Glasgow and head south through Scotland to the town of Cairnryan, where we’ll board a ferry crossing the Irish Sea. This voyage takes us to Belfast, the capital of Northern Ireland. Belfast is a city of monumental architecture and rich history, currently thriving as it moves beyond its past religious conflicts. After exploring Belfast, we'll continue into the Republic of Ireland and make our way to the vibrant city of Dublin, arriving by the end of the day.
Day 8 - Dublin
We begin the day with a panoramic tour of Dublin, the serene capital of Ireland. As we wander along the banks of the River Liffey, we will discover the city’s inviting parks and take in the lively atmosphere of its downtown streets. We'll also make a point of visiting the historic university and appreciate the exterior of the renowned Trinity College. The afternoon is yours to explore Dublin at your own pace, whether it's delving into its rich cultural offerings or enjoying a leisurely stroll through its vibrant neighbourhoods. Please note, our tour might take place the previous afternoon if our arrival time in Dublin or daylight hours necessitate an adjustment.
Day 9 - Dublin - Caernarfon - Liverpool
We begin the day with an early ferry crossing from Dublin to Wales, a voyage lasting between three and three-and-a-half hours. Our adventure in Wales kicks off in Caernarfon, a seaside town boasting World Heritage status, known for its impressive castle which stands as a testament to the region's rich history. You'll have time to enjoy lunch and explore the quaint surroundings. From Caernarfon, we journey onward to Liverpool, a city celebrated for its cultural heritage and listed as a World Heritage Site. Here, we'll indulge in a brief bus tour, giving you a snapshot of the city's vibrant essence, including its significance as the UK's second-largest port. Whether you're a fan of The Beatles or simply curious, Liverpool offers the opportunity to explore musical history at The Beatles Museum, should you wish to visit.
Day 10 - Liverpool - Chester - Lichfield - Birmingham
After breakfast, we head to the nearby historic city of Chester, located on the outskirts of Wales. Chester is renowned for its well-preserved Roman amphitheatre, formidable medieval walls, and stunning architectural structures, offering you a perfect blend of history and charm. You'll have the opportunity to explore these sights at your own pace. Later, we journey to the quaint town of Lichfield for lunch. This picture-perfect setting boasts cobbled streets and historic buildings, highlighted by its medieval cathedral, distinguished by its unique three spires. Afterwards, our travels take us to Birmingham, the UK's second-largest city. Known for its critical role in the Industrial Revolution, Birmingham is now a bustling centre of economic and cultural activities. We suggest a leisurely stroll around the town hall area and along its extensive canal network, which is even larger than Venice's. These canals are fringed with a variety of restaurants and entertainment options, providing you with a lively setting to explore and enjoy.
Day 11 - Birmingham - Stratford - Stow-on-the-Wold - Gloucester - Bath
Today we set off for the historic town of Stratford-upon-Avon, nestled on the banks of the River Avon and renowned as the birthplace of William Shakespeare. If you wish, you can visit the house where the Bard of Avon was born. From there, we meander through picturesque countryside and small villages, arriving at Stow-on-the-Wold. This charming village is famed for its stone cottages and quaint square, boasting art galleries and antique shops. Our adventure continues to Gloucester, where you’ll have time for lunch at the lively docks and can explore the city’s historic centre, featuring its grand cathedral known for filming scenes from Harry Potter. Our journey culminates in Bath, celebrated for its hot springs and stunning Georgian architecture, where, if desired, you can visit the Roman baths.
Day 12 - Bath - Stonehenge - Salisbury - London
We begin our day in Bath, where you can choose to visit the renowned Roman baths at your own pace. Afterwards, we journey through the picturesque landscape of southern England to Stonehenge. Admission is included, allowing you the opportunity to explore this enigmatic prehistoric site, famous for its striking stone circle, the purpose of which continues to be a mystery. Our next destination is Salisbury. Here, you will have time to enjoy lunch in the town's charming medieval centre before we visit the remarkable cathedral. Admission is also included to this impressive structure boasting the tallest spire in England. As the day draws to a close, we make our way back to London, where we will arrive in the evening.
Day 13 - London
