Key landmarks on the route include the Parliament buildings, the River Thames, and Buckingham Palace, where you may have the chance to see the Changing of the Guard, subject to the schedule. In the evening, we will meet at Piccadilly to take a stroll through the vibrant areas of Leicester Square, Chinatown, and Soho—places known for their lively atmosphere, theatres, and entertainment. You will have ample choice of restaurants here for dinner before we return to the hotel.
Day 3 - London - Colchester - Colchester - Volendam Ferry
We begin the morning with a visit to the British Museum, one of the world’s oldest institutions, where we explore artefacts spanning numerous cultures. Following some free time for lunch, we head to Camden, a district famed for its lively and diverse street market. Here, you can browse distinctive items from across the globe and enjoy lunch at one of the many cafés or food stalls. Around 4:00 p.m., we travel to Colchester, England’s oldest recorded town, and take a leisurely walk through its historic streets. Afterwards, we continue to Harwich to board the ferry for our overnight crossing to the Netherlands, staying in en suite cabins. Please note that cabin availability is limited, so the itinerary may be adjusted – we might instead travel from London to Amsterdam via a daytime ferry with an overnight stay in Antwerp, or by train or flight.
Day 4 - Colchester - Volendam Ferry - Volendam - Amsterdam
We arrive in the Netherlands at Hoek van Holland around 8am and visit Volendam, a charming fishing village known for its traditional atmosphere. From there, we travel to Amsterdam for a guided tour of the city’s highlights. We’ll see iconic sights such as the windmills and the Rembrandt statue, explore the modern elegance of the South District, and visit Museum Square, famous for its diamond-cutting heritage. The tour concludes with a walking exploration into the heart of Amsterdam, where you will have free time to continue discovering the city at your own pace.
Day 5 - Amsterdam - Hamelin - Berlin
We depart Amsterdam and travel towards Germany, stopping first in Hamelin. This charming town features quaint streets and shops that bring to life the Brothers Grimm tale of the Pied Piper. Continuing our journey, we pass through Marienborn, once the border between East and West Germany until reunification in 1990. We arrive in Berlin in the evening, ready for the next stage of our journey.
Day 6 - Berlin
Today we explore Berlin, the dynamic capital of Germany, with a local guide. From the coach, we’ll take in key sights including Museum Island, the Television Tower, the main shopping streets in the city centre, the Old Cathedral destroyed during World War II, Brandenburg Gate, the Reichstag, and the city’s large parks. We’ll pause to visit the Holocaust Memorial and the Berlin Wall Memorial Museum—two poignant sites reflecting Germany’s difficult 20th-century history. The afternoon is yours to discover Berlin at your own pace. Early evening, we provide a transfer to the vibrant Kantstrasse district.
Day 7 - Berlin - Dresden - Prague
We travel through forested landscapes to Dresden, celebrated for its remarkable architecture and art, making it one of Germany’s premier destinations. You will have time to explore some of the city’s grand palaces and enjoy lunch at one of the many restaurants or cafés. Later, we continue to the Czech Republic, arriving in Prague. We head straight to the lively Old Town Square, a great introduction to the city’s vibrant atmosphere. You can choose to dine at one of the numerous restaurants offering a variety of international cuisines, including Czech, Chinese, Indian, and Italian, before we return to the hotel.
