Tour was fun, first time for us doing this sort of a trip. Highlights for me were the game drives in Chobe and South Luangwa. Really enjoyed the optional extra's of horse riding and snorkelling. Some of the days on the truck were as advertised but felt much longer than we anticipated. Our guide, cook and driver were faultless, a fantastic team of truly lovely people. They took great care of us, told us interesting and entertaining info about the places we were visiting. I do not think I have ever eaten so well and have tried to recreate some of the meals since coming home.
Thank you. ”
All 3 staff [driver, cook and guide] were great, friendly, and the food was wonderful. Tents and mattresses were of a good standard. The staff who ran the Serengeti excursion were also very professional. Some of the campsites were a little basic; with poorly maintained facilities - for example broken toilet seats and non-flushing toilets were unpleasant. But they all had a bar area for child drinks, which was good.We didn't appreciate beforehand the number of very early starts that would be required; perhaps this should be made more clear on trip notes.”
Amazing adventure through Africa, saw plenty of wildlife. Tour leader, driver and cook all worked well. Food a plenty and very good. Leah (tour leader) very knowledgable and approachable. ”

From the vast plains of the Serengeti where lions roam to the incredible natural amphitheatre of the Ngorongoro Crater that plays host to the Big 5 and then some, Tanzania is one of Africa's top safari destinations and with the tropical paradise of the Zanzibar archipelago off the coast it's also a top choice for a wildlife and beach holiday combination for sun, sea and safari.
Recommended places to visit in Tanzania
Tanzania offers everything you could possibly ask of a safari destination - remarkable national parks, abundant wildlife, pristine beaches, towering mountains and ancient cultures. Here's some of our favourite places in Tanzania to get you inspired.
Bordered by the western escarpment of the Rift Valley and encompassing the shallow, alkaline waters of Lake Manyara, this is one of Tanzania's smallest national parks yet has plenty of appeal with large concentration of candy-coloured flamingos, mud-loving hippos, tree-munching giraffe and tree-climbing lions. Despite its size of just 329 sq km, the variety of vegetation is quite diverse with dry savannah and boggy marshes.
The vast, seemingly never-ending grassy plains of the Serengeti National Park are one of Tanzania's most unforgettable sights. Punctuated by lone acacia trees and rocky outcrops where lions laze, the Serengeti is one of Africa's top safari destinations, home to the great spectacle that is the migration of hundreds and thousands of zebra, wildebeest and gazelle every year.
Nothing quite prepares you for the first glimpse of the Ngorongoro Crater, an ancient volcanic caldera that is home to an unparalleled concentration of wildlife including one of the densest populations of Masai lion. At 610 metres deep with a steep ridge, the crater forms a natural enclosure that contains animals ranging from black rhino, hippo and buffalo to zebra, gazelle and cheetah.
Standing at a height of 5896 metres, Kilimanjaro is the highest mountain in Africa and forms the centrepiece of the Mt. Kilimajaro National Park. Each year some 25,000 intrepid hikers visit the park to conquer the summit, making it Tanzania's most visited national park. Comprised of three volcanic cones, Mount Kilimanjaro stands above cultivated farmland and verdant forest home to ample wildlife including elephant and leopard.
