Itinerary
Day 1 - Suzhou
On arrival at Suzhou railway station, you will be greeted by an English-speaking guide who will escort you on a private transfer to your hotel in the city. The journey takes approximately 30 minutes. If you prefer to rest after your travels, you can enjoy the hotel’s facilities at your leisure. Alternatively, you may wish to take a stroll through Suzhou’s charming streets and soak up the city’s distinctive atmosphere. Overnight stay in Suzhou.
Day 2 - Suzhou
After breakfast, we will collect you from the hotel lobby at around 9:00 for a full day of sightseeing in Suzhou. Our first stop is the Humble Administrator’s Garden, originally built in 1509 during the Ming Dynasty. This garden was created as a private retreat for Wang Xianchen, a retired official who sought a simple, peaceful life—hence the garden’s name. Next, we visit the Lingering Garden, one of China’s four most famous classical gardens. Renowned for its elegant Qing Dynasty architecture, it features beautifully crafted halls and a variety of buildings in different shapes, sizes and colours. After lunch at a local restaurant, we explore Panmen City Gate, constructed during the Wu Kingdom in the Spring and Autumn Period (770BC–476BC). It is the world’s only well-preserved city gate accessible by both land and water. We then drive to Xinshiqiao Wharf for a 45-minute cruise along the Suzhou Grand Canal, offering a unique perspective on the city’s waterways. We return to the hotel by approximately 17:00 for your overnight stay in Suzhou.
Day 3 - Suzhou
After breakfast at the hotel, enjoy a full day at leisure in Suzhou. You may choose to explore this ‘Oriental Venice’ at your own pace or simply relax and make use of the hotel’s facilities. Alternatively, you can join one of the optional tours. The Tongli Water Town excursion begins with hotel pick-up at 8:30 and includes a visit to this well-preserved water town, known for its rich cultural heritage and over 1,000 years of history. After lunch at a local restaurant, we take a 30-minute cruise on a traditional wooden sculling boat, with the tour concluding around 17:30. Another option is the Suzhou Walking Tour, starting at 9:00 with hotel pick-up. This five-hour walk follows the ancient Pingjiang Map, tracing the layout of Suzhou as it was in the Song Dynasty some 800 years ago. The route includes exclusive visits to the Master of Nets Garden and Humble Administrator’s Garden, as well as stops at historic streets and sites such as Shuangta Market and North Pagoda. Lunch is provided at a local restaurant. Overnight in Suzhou.
Day 4 - Suzhou
After breakfast, you will check out of the hotel. At the arranged time, we will transfer you to Suzhou railway station to continue your onward journey.
