Itinerary
Day 1 - Bangalore to Chitradurga Fort & Hampi
On arrival at Bangalore Airport, our driver greets you and we set off for Hampi. The journey covers about 350 km and takes around 7–8 hours, with a stop at the imposing Chitradurga Fort to walk its ancient ramparts and take in views of the surrounding landscape. Reaching Hampi, a UNESCO World Heritage site, we check you in to your hotel. The evening is at leisure – you can explore the local markets and get a feel for the sights, sounds and flavours of the town. Overnight at hotel.
Day 2 - Exploring Hampi
After breakfast in Hampi, we spend the day exploring the former Vijayanagara capital. We begin at the intricately carved Hazara Rama Temple, then continue to the King’s Balance and the Mahanavami Dibba, striking reminders of royal ceremony and engineering. At Virupaksha Temple – still an active place of worship – we take in its layered history before moving on to the Vithala Temple Complex, known for its stone chariot and finely worked pillars. We end at the ASI Museum, where exhibits and artefacts add context to the sites visited. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 3 - Lakkundi, Gadag & Badami
After breakfast we depart Hampi for Badami – about 190 km and around 4 hours by road – with planned stops at Lakkundi and Gadag. In Lakkundi we explore temples noted for their intricate stone carving, offering a clear window into the region’s artistic heritage. We then continue to Gadag to visit its historic temples and appreciate the area’s cultural significance.
On arrival in Badami we check in to the hotel. The rest of the day is at leisure – you can take a gentle stroll, explore the town at your own pace or simply relax. Overnight in Badami.
Day 4 - Exploring Pattadakal, Aihole & Badami Fort
After breakfast in Badami, we set out on a day excursion to Pattadakkal and Aihole – about 35 km each way. At Pattadakkal, we visit the Virupaksha Temple and Papanatha Temple, appreciating the finely worked stone that reflects Chalukyan craftsmanship. We continue to Aihole to see the Durga Temple and Lad Khan Temple, noting sculpted scenes from Hindu mythology and the hallmarks of Chalukyan architecture.
Returning to Badami, we explore Badami Fort on the clifftop opposite the Badami Caves and ascend for panoramic views over the town and its historic landmarks. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 5 - Badami to Hubli
After breakfast, we check out and drive from Badami to Hubli Airport – about 110 km, taking roughly 3 hours – for your onward flight. We’ll time the transfer to suit your departure and see you off with the highlights of Badami fresh in mind.
