Itinerary
Day 1 - New Delhi - Delhi
Welcome to Delhi, the vibrant capital of India. Upon arrival, a representative will meet you and transfer you to your hotel. This city, with its rich medieval heritage, has evolved dramatically in recent decades. Delhi’s landscape is a dynamic blend of ancient and modern, reflecting its history as a site of seven successive cities over millennia. After settling in, we will visit the stunning Jama Masjid, also known as the Friday Mosque, an iconic example of Mughal architecture. To end the day, we suggest a rickshaw ride through the bustling, narrow streets of Old Delhi, offering a glimpse into the city’s lively street life before returning to the hotel for your overnight stay.
Day 2 - Delhi - Ajmer - Pushkar
After breakfast, we transfer you to Delhi railway station to board your train to Ajmer. This historic city, surrounded by the Aravali Hills, is named after 'Ajay Meru' meaning ‘Invincible Hill’. Ajmer has long been a pilgrimage site for Hindus and Muslims alike, centred on the mausoleum of the revered Sufi saint Khwaja Moinuddin Chisti. Upon arrival, a tour representative will welcome you before we continue by road to Pushkar, a town on the edge of the Thar Desert. Pushkar is famed for its sacred lake and the annual camel fair held in the festival month of Kartik (October–November). As a religious town, alcohol and non-vegetarian food are not permitted here. After checking in at your hotel, we take you on a sightseeing tour of the Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Brahma, situated by Pushkar Lake. Observe devotees bathing in the holy waters and offering prayers along the lake’s banks. Overnight in Pushkar.
Day 3 - Pushkar - Udaipur
After breakfast, check out of the hotel and drive to Udaipur, often called the ‘Venice of the East’ for its picturesque setting amid rolling hills and tranquil lakes. Upon arrival, check in to your hotel before exploring the city’s highlights. Visit the 17th-century Jagdish Temple, a prominent Hindu shrine in the city centre, then marvel at the grand City Palace, which blends medieval European and Chinese architectural styles. To end the day, enjoy a relaxing boat ride on Lake Pichola, taking in views of the palatial islands of Jag Niwas and Jag Mandir. Jag Niwas, known as the Lake Palace, was once the summer retreat of the Mewar prince and is now a luxury hotel. Return to your hotel for the night in Udaipur.
Day 4 - Udaipur - Jodhpur
After breakfast, we depart for Jodhpur, stopping en route to visit the Jain temple at Ranakpur. Also known as Chaturmukha, or ‘Four Faces’, this temple is a remarkable example of marble craftsmanship and architectural precision. Continuing to Jodhpur, often called the ‘City of the Sun’ and the ‘Blue City’, you will find Rajasthan’s second largest city, famed for its imposing Mehrangarh Fort. Upon arrival, check in to your hotel and enjoy some free time to explore the city at your own pace. Overnight in Jodhpur.
Day 5 - Jodhpur - Bikaner
After breakfast, we visit the imposing Mehrangarh Fort, a remarkable example of Rajasthan’s architectural heritage and home to the Rathore clan, descendants of the Sun God. The fort’s intricate red sandstone carvings vividly depict the stories of courageous royal women. Next, we explore Jaswant Thada, a royal cenotaph built from finely carved white marble that glows warmly when touched by sunlight. Later, we continue to Bikaner, known as the ‘Red City’ for its striking red sandstone palaces and temples. This desert oasis showcases some of the finest creations of Rajput architecture. Upon arrival, check in to your hotel for an overnight stay.
Day 6 - Bikaner - Jaipur
After breakfast, we visit Junagarh Fort, a striking red sandstone fortress renowned for its beautifully restored frescoes and intricate architecture. Walking through its series of gates, you’ll sense the grandeur of the royal processions that once passed here. Next, enjoy a tuk-tuk ride through the old city of Bikaner, where you can admire the elegant havelis—large merchant houses dating from the early 20th century, reflecting the city’s historic wealth. Later, we continue to Jaipur, the ‘Pink City’ and capital of Rajasthan, founded around 300 years ago by Maharaja Jai Singh II. Known for its orderly layout based on Vastu Shastra principles, Jaipur is famed for its distinctive pink sandstone buildings. Upon arrival in the late afternoon, check in to your hotel and spend the evening at your leisure exploring the city. Overnight in Jaipur.
Day 7 - Jaipur
After breakfast, we set off for a morning tour of Amber Fort, perched on a hill overlooking a lake. The fort’s formidable exterior conceals richly decorated palaces, temples and landscaped gardens. Highlights include the Sheesh Mahal, a chamber adorned with thousands of tiny mirrors, the frescoed Ganesh Pol gate, and the colonnaded Diwan-i-Aam. On the way back, we pause for photos at the striking Hawa Mahal, or ‘Palace of the Winds’, known for its colourful façade with hundreds of small windows. This palace was designed to allow royal women to observe street life unseen. In the afternoon, we visit the Maharaja’s City Palace, a former royal residence now partly a museum, with a section still occupied by Jaipur’s royal family. We complete the day at Jantar Mantar, the renowned stone and marble observatory that remains operational. Overnight in Jaipur.
Day 8 - Jaipur - Fatehpur Sikri - Agra
After breakfast, we travel to Agra, situated on the banks of the Yamuna River. Agra gained prominence in the 17th century as the Mughal Empire’s capital, renowned for its gardens, waterfalls, bathhouses and canals. Today, the city is known for its vibrant crafts industry, including marble inlay work and carpets. En route, we visit Fatehpur Sikri, the abandoned city founded by Emperor Akbar in the 16th century but deserted just 14 years later due to water shortages. Here, you can explore remarkably well-preserved buildings that reflect its intriguing history. Upon arrival in Agra, we check in to the hotel, leaving the remainder of the day free for you to relax or explore at your leisure.
Day 9 - Agra - Delhi
After breakfast, we visit the magnificent Taj Mahal, a mid-17th-century mausoleum built by Emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his wife Mumtaz Mahal. This iconic monument showcases the exquisite craftsmanship of 20,000 artisans from Persia, Turkey, France and Italy. Following this, we explore Agra Fort, a formidable red sandstone fortress housing grand Mughal palaces. Discover the Diwan-i-Am, where the emperor addressed his subjects, and the Diwan-i-Khas, used for private audiences with kings and dignitaries. The striking white marble Mina Masjid, or ‘Heavenly Mosque’, offers a contrasting elegance within the fort. In the afternoon, we travel back to Delhi for your overnight stay.
Day 10 - Delhi
After breakfast, we transfer you to the airport in good time for your onward flight. This concludes your journey.
