Day 1 - Madrid
Welcome to Madrid! Upon your arrival, we will arrange for a transfer to your hotel, allowing you some free time to relax and explore at your own pace. In the afternoon, you'll receive details about the start of your tour, either in person or via the information signs at the hotel reception. Immerse yourself in the vibrant atmosphere of this lively city as you prepare for the exciting days ahead. Please note: This tour may have travellers joining or departing at various points along the route, meaning group composition can change during the tour. Please also be aware that depending on group composition, guiding may be in additional languages as well as English.
Day 2 - Madrid
Your second day in Madrid begins with an engaging panoramic tour of Spain's lively capital. We'll explore the vibrant city centre, marvelling at the impressive Plaza Mayor and the city's grand streets lined with elegant fountains. A highlight of our morning is a leisurely stroll through the beautiful Retiro Park, a serene oasis offering tranquil fountains, charming walkways, and lush gardens. Additionally, we'll include entry to the renowned Santiago Bernabéu Stadium, the home ground of Real Madrid, often hailed as the world's best football club.The afternoon offers you the freedom to explore Madrid at your own pace. Later in the evening, we'll provide a transfer to the iconic Plaza Mayor, allowing you more time to soak up the local atmosphere.
Day 3 - Madrid - San Sebastian - Bordeaux
On day three, after enjoying a hearty breakfast, we will depart from Madrid and set off towards the remarkable regions of Castile and the Basque Country. Our journey leads us to San Sebastián, renowned for its stunning La Concha beach. Here, you're encouraged to take a leisurely walk along the sandy shores or enjoy a glass of local wine while soaking up the charm of the old quarter. You'll have time for lunch at your leisure before we continue our adventure. We'll then cross the border into France, arriving in the vibrant city of Bordeaux by evening. Upon arrival, why not take a relaxing evening stroll through the city's heart, where history and modernity blend seamlessly?
Day 4 - Bordeaux - Chambord - Paris
Today, we set off through the celebrated wine and cognac regions, heading towards the picturesque Loire Valley. Our journey will lead us to the Ch?teau de Chambord, often hailed as one of the most magnificent castles in France, where entry is included. Following this, you'll have some leisure time to enjoy lunch amid the captivating surroundings. Later, we'll continue our drive to Paris, arriving in the evening, ready to enjoy the charm of the French capital.
Day 5 - Paris
On our fifth day, we will delve into the rich history of France with a visit to the magnificent Palace of Versailles. Although entry costs are not covered, the palace is renowned for its opulent architecture and breathtaking gardens, which are well worth exploring. Returning to Paris, we will head to Montmartre, a charming neighbourhood celebrated for its bohemian atmosphere, where artists, painters, and cabarets flourish. A local guide will then lead us on a panoramic city tour, highlighting the grandeur of Paris through its impressive avenues and iconic landmarks. After the tour, we will return to our hotel. For those interested, there's an optional evening opportunity to enjoy a variety show, offering a delightful glimpse into Parisian nightlife.
Day 6 - Paris - Rouen
Our day begins in the heart of Paris with a visit to the world-renowned Eiffel Tower, where your admission to the second level is included. After taking in the spectacular views of the city, we will continue with a soothing cruise along the Seine, allowing you to admire the beautiful architecture lining the riverbanks. You will then have the afternoon free to explore Paris at your leisure, perhaps visiting a museum, shopping, or simply enjoying a café. In the late afternoon, we will depart Paris and head towards the enchanting region of Normandy, arriving in the historic city of Rouen. Here, you will have ample time to wander through the city’s charming medieval streets, admiring its stunning Gothic cathedral and absorbing the rich history that stretches back to Roman times. Please note that if wait times at the Eiffel Tower are excessive, we may reschedule this visit for another day to ensure your convenience.
Day 7 - Rouen - English Channel - Canterbury - London
We begin our day with a leisurely stroll through the charming centre of Rouen, allowing us to appreciate the historical ambience of this Normandy city known for its medieval half-timbered houses and impressive Gothic structures, such as the famed Rouen Cathedral. After soaking in the atmosphere, we travel towards northern France, where we embark on a ferry crossing of the English Channel, a historic maritime passage connecting France and England. Upon our arrival in Canterbury, often referred to as the religious heart of England, we'll take time to explore its captivating historic centre, which draws visitors with its unique blend of cultural heritage and architectural beauty. Continuing our journey, we reach London, where you'll have some free time near the iconic Tower Bridge – a landmark synonymous with the city of London. Here, amidst its striking architecture and the River Thames, you can enjoy exploring the surrounding area before we head to our hotel for the evening.
Day 8 - London
Today, we'll embark on a panoramic tour of London with a knowledgeable local guide, offering a glimpse into the rich culture and history of this vibrant city. We'll visit some of its most iconic landmarks, including the Houses of Parliament, the River Thames, and Buckingham Palace. Depending on the day, you may also have the chance to witness the famous Changing of the Guard ceremony. In the evening, we'll regroup at a designated meeting point in Piccadilly, from where we'll enjoy a leisurely walk through Leicester Square, Chinatown, and Soho. These areas are well-known for their lively atmosphere, theatre scene, and diverse entertainment options. There will be plenty of dining choices available for dinner before we make our way back to the hotel.
Day 9 - London - Colchester - Colchester - Volendam Ferry
In the morning, we visit the British Museum, one of the world's oldest museums, where we'll explore a fascinating collection showcasing global cultures. Following some free time at lunchtime, we head to Camden, renowned for its vibrant and eclectic street market. Here, you can browse unique items from around the world and savour lunch at one of the many small eateries or food stalls. By late afternoon, at around 4:00 p.m., we depart for Colchester, the oldest recorded town in England. Enjoy a leisurely stroll through its historic streets before we continue to Harwich, where we board the ferry for an overnight journey to the Netherlands, staying comfortably in en suite cabins. Please note, due to limited cabin availability on the ferry, the itinerary might be adjusted. This may include alternative travel from London to Amsterdam via a daytime ferry with an overnight stop in Antwerp or possible train or flight arrangements to Amsterdam.
Day 10 - Colchester - Volendam Ferry - Volendam - Amsterdam
We arrive in the Netherlands (Hoek van Holland) around eight in the morning and head to Volendam, a picturesque fishing village that captures the quintessential charm of Dutch life. After our visit, we continue to Amsterdam, where a guided tour awaits us. This tour highlights Amsterdam's diverse attractions, including the timeless image of the iconic windmill and the statue of Rembrandt. We explore the sophisticated South District, and at Museum Square, we delve into the fascinating art of diamond cutting that’s been a hallmark of the city for centuries. Our tour concludes in the heart of Amsterdam, where we leave the bus to explore on foot. The remainder of the day is yours to discover more of the city at your leisure.
Day 11 - Amsterdam - Hamelin - Berlin
Departing from Amsterdam, we set off for Germany, with our first stop being the enchanting town of Hamelin. This charming destination is steeped in the folklore of the Brothers Grimm, most notably the tale of the Pied Piper. Take a stroll through its quaint streets and explore the delightful shops that capture the essence of this fairy-tale town. As we continue our journey into the heart of Germany, we pass through Marienborn, the site of the former border that once divided East and West Germany until reunification in 1990. By evening, we reach the vibrant capital of Berlin, ready for you to delve into its rich history and dynamic cultural scene.
Day 12 - Berlin
Discover the vibrant culture of Berlin on a guided tour exploring Germany's captivating capital. From the comfort of our coach, we will reveal the rich history and contemporary pulse of this remarkable city. Prepare to marvel at iconic locations such as Museum Island, the towering Television Tower, and the bustling shopping streets of the city centre. You'll have the opportunity to explore several magnificent palaces and savour a leisurely lunch in one of its many delightful restaurants or cafés. Later, we continue our journey to the Czech Republic, arriving in the enchanting city of Prague. We'll make our way to the Old Town Square, a bustling hub teeming with energy and offering a vibrant array of tourist activities—perfect for your first encounter with this beautiful city. Here, you can enjoy dining at a host of restaurants serving diverse international cuisines, including Czech, Chinese, Indian, and Italian. We will then return to the hotel for the night.
Day 14 - Prague
Explore the enchanting city of Prague, often dubbed the Baroque jewel of Europe. Our day begins with an informative panoramic tour accompanied by a local guide, who will introduce us to the city's most iconic landmarks. We will make a stop at Prague Castle, where admission is included, allowing you to delve into the history and architecture of this magnificent site. Following this, we'll enjoy a leisurely cruise along the Vltava River, which is also included, offering unique views of the cityscape. The afternoon is yours to explore Prague at your leisure, giving you the chance to discover its charming streets, vibrant squares, and historic sites.
Day 15 - Prague - Munich - Innsbruck
We will set off early from Prague, heading towards the charming region of Bavaria in Germany. By midday, we'll reach Munich, a city that beautifully blends historical significance with vibrant modern culture. You will have free time to wander around the historic city centre, where you can also grab a bite to eat. In the afternoon, our journey continues to scenic Austria. Upon arriving amidst the stunning Alpine landscapes, you’ll have the opportunity to explore Innsbruck, the capital of Tyrol. Explore the elegant streets of the Old Town and the delightful area around the Golden Roof. In the evening, feel free to enjoy a meal in one of the local restaurants before we settle in for the night.
Day 16 - Innsbruck - Salzburg
Our day in Innsbruck begins with a visit to the Swarovski Museum, where we will delve into the fascinating world of crystals. Here, you’ll explore the stunning gardens and discover the meticulous craftsmanship involved in creating these exquisite pieces. Afterwards, you’ll have the opportunity to wander through the historic heart of Innsbruck at your leisure. Later, we continue our journey along picturesque mountain roads to reach Kitzbühel, known worldwide for its ski resort and nearly year-round snow. This charming town is also home to the famous Hahnenkamm Race, an alpine skiing event of great prestige and excitement. By the end of the day, we’ll arrive in Salzburg.
Day 17 - Salzburg - Lake Traunsee - Vienna
Today, we continue our Austrian adventure with a morning exploration of Salzburg, famously known as Mozart’s birthplace. Nestled beneath a grand castle, the city's Renaissance and Baroque centre is a captivating sight. After taking in the architectural splendours, we journey through picturesque lakes and mountains, arriving at St. Wolfgang, a celebrated pilgrimage destination. Our next stop is Traunkirchen, located on the stunning shores of Lake Traunsee, where we will embark on a delightful cruise. This scenic ride offers views of four majestic castles surrounding the lake. After disembarking in Gmunden, we continue our journey to Vienna, reaching the city by evening.
Day 18 - Vienna
Today, we’ll discover Vienna on a panoramic tour led by a local guide, who will introduce us to the city's stunning architecture. We’ll experience the grandeur of Vienna's stately avenues and magnificent palaces, and enjoy the tranquillity of its extensive parks, all while taking in the vibrant atmosphere of its city centre. In the afternoon, you’ll have the freedom to explore the Austrian capital at your own pace, soaking in its rich cultural offerings and local charm. As evening falls, we will take you to the Grinzing district, a quaint area imbued with history as an old wine-producing village, now known for its authentic taverns and lively atmosphere. Here, you'll have the opportunity to savour a delightful meal at one of the traditional establishments.
Day 19 - Vienna - Budapest
After a comfortable three-hour journey, we will arrive in Budapest, the vibrant capital of Hungary. Our first destination is the bustling Váci utca, where you can enjoy a leisurely lunch amidst the lively atmosphere of this famous shopping street. Afterwards, we will embark on an included boat tour along the Danube River, offering picturesque views of historic Buda on one side and the cosmopolitan vibe of Pest on the other. This journey reveals some of the most stunning perspectives of the city. Later, we'll venture into a guided panoramic tour of Budapest, known as the "Queen of the Danube," introducing you to its rich history and majestic beauty. You'll have some free time to further explore the city at your own pace. In the evening, there is an optional excursion to experience a traditional Magyar show, complete with dinner, should you wish to delve deeper into the local culture.
Day 20 - Budapest
