Itinerary
Day 1 - Windhoek
Arrive at Windhoek International Airport, where we meet you and transfer you to the car hire depot to collect your rental vehicle. We brief you on the vehicle and explain how to proceed on your departure day. Your first drive takes you north through Namibia’s landscapes to the Waterberg region, passing Windhoek and then Okahandja – significant to the Herero as the former seat of Chief Samuel Maharero, where thousands gather each August to honour their chiefs at the graves. On arrival in the Waterberg region, check in to your lodge and settle in for your first night under Namibian skies. Overnight in the Waterberg region.
Day 2 - Oshikoto
After breakfast at the lodge, we continue north towards Etosha National Park, travelling via Otjiwarongo – about 250 km north of Windhoek on undulating plains. The area has several guest farms and lodges, plus the Otjiwarongo Crocodile Ranch and the internationally recognised Cheetah Conservation Fund – you can stop to visit if you wish. We then pass through the small town of Otavi beneath the Otavi Mountains before continuing to Tsumeb, a gateway to the north. Nearby Lake Otjikoto is known for local myths and legends. On arrival in the Etosha region, we check in to the lodge for the next two nights. If you are keen to start exploring, you can drive the short distance to the park entrance for an afternoon game drive, returning to the lodge before the park gates close to enjoy sunset over the landscape. Overnight in the Etosha National Park region.
Day 3 - Tsumeb
Rise early as we enter Etosha National Park for a morning of game viewing. Covering 22,270 sq km of saline desert, savannah and woodland, it is one of Africa’s largest parks. We spend the day exploring by rental vehicle, pausing at waterholes – including those near the camps – to watch wildlife come and go. You can order a packed lunch from the lodge to take with you – not included – or join an optional game drive in an open vehicle with an experienced guide. If you prefer to remain at, or return earlier to, the lodge, you can choose from the activities on offer there. Overnight in the Etosha National Park region.
Day 4 - Windhoek
After breakfast at the lodge, we retrace our route back to Windhoek and check in to your hotel for your final night in Namibia. The rest of the day is yours – you can explore this exciting, unique and colourful city, discover its interesting historical sights and vibrant streets, and try local dishes at a restaurant of your choice. Overnight in Windhoek.
Day 5 - Windhoek
After breakfast, you have free time to relax or pick up some last minute souvenirs. Later, we transfer you to Windhoek International Airport – you return your rental vehicle and check in for your return flight.
