mt kilimanjaro summit climb - 8 days
Snow-capped Mt Kilimanjaro is the highest point on the African Continent, the world’s largest free-standing mountain and one of the world’s largest volcanoes. At Uhuru Peak (5895m), you’ll have impressive photo opportunities. There’s no special equipment or expertise required to ascend Mt Kili as the routes chosen have been designed to allow for a slow and gradual trek with time for acclimatisation between 10,000 and 15,000 ft. There are several routes to choose from and they vary by steepness and popularity. The Marangu Route is the easiest and most frequented route on Mt Kili. The Machame Route, Shira Route and Western Breach are perhaps more scenic but certainly more physically demanding. Spectacular views are had on all routes as the ascent continues through a variety of habitat including - low forest, cloud and rain forest, moorland littered with huge lobelia vegetation, alpine desert and magnificent glacial fields.
