Day 1: Colombo
Welcome to Sri Lanka and the start of your holiday! Arrive Colombo, included transfer to hotel. Tonight enjoy a Welcome Dinner at the hotel. Overnight - Colombo (B, D)
Day 2: Sightseeing in Colombo
Highlights of our sightseeing tour of Sri Lanka’s capital include; the Fort, Galle Face Green – a seaside expanse popular for informal cricket games, the Pettah – a noisy oriental bazaar, a visit to Gamgarama temple, Cinnamon Gardens and Independence Square. Overnight - Colombo (B)

Day 3: Dambula and Polonnaruwa
Colombo - Giritale (via Dambulla). We drive to Giritale. En route, we visit the impressive Dambulla Rock Temple which contain frescoes of Buddha. From Giritale, we visit compact Polonnaruwa – an 11th century city and explore the ruins of the Royal Palace, temples and Gal Vihara which boasts 3 enormous and revered Buddha figures. Day 4: Sigiriya and Kandy
Giritale - Sigiriya. To Sigiriya, the elevated and mysterious 5th century fortress ruins of King Kasyapa, where we view the stunning frescoes. The ‘Lion Rock’ is a citadel of unusual beauty rising 200 metres from the scrub jungle. A moat, rampart, and extensive gardens including the renowned water gardens ring the base of the rock. Visit the world-renowned frescoes of the ‘Heavenly Maidens’ of Sigiriya, which are in a sheltered pocket of the rock approached by a spiral stairway. At Matale, we visit an aromatic spice garden. Day 5: Elephant Orphanage
Today we visit the elephant orphanage in Pinnawela. This orphanage is the home for about 60 elephants, out of which some are baby elephants found abandoned or orphaned in the wild. Afterwards we go to the Peradeniya Botanical Gardens. Back in Kandy, a scenic lakeside town, we visit the lake, bazaar, gem museum and lapidary. In the evening, visit the Temple of the Tooth Relic and then enjoy a cultural show featuring traditional Sri Lankan dancing. Overnight - Kandy (B)
Day 6: Tea plantations and Nuwara Eliya
En route to Nuwara Eliya – a scenic hillside town with a distinctly English flavour, we visit a tea plantation and taste a cup of pure Ceylon tea in the factory. In Nuwara Eliya, Sri Lanka’s most popular hill resort, we enjoy a sightseeing tour and visit Hakgala Gardens. Overnight - Nuwara Eliya (B)
Day 7: Udawalawe National Park
Leaving Nuwara Eliya, we drive to Udawalawe National Park, where we enjoy exploration by jeep. We get a chance to see elephants up close and personal. Overnight - Embilipitiya (B)

Day 8: Ratnapura
Continuing to Colombo, we visit Ratnapura, Sri Lanka’s gem capital where we visit a mine and lapidary. Overnight - Colombo (B)
Day 9: Colombo
Tour ends after breakfast. Included onward transfer to airport. (B)
