We have three types of holiday Africa. Click below for more information.
We provide spacious, easily-erectible 2 person dome tents with sewn-in ground sheets and fly sheet. In Africa we stay at a combination of campsites and bush/desert camps. Campsites range from well-established camps with an array of facilities that sometimes includes a bar, mini-mart or even a pool to more basic camps with few facilities and cold showers. Dependent upon our day-to-day itinerary, at times we will bush camp. That is to say, when we can’t travel any further or there is no permanent campsite in the vicinity, we will locate a suitable place and pitch camp. Bush camping on occasion allows us to return to the great outdoors and really be at one with nature. Bush camping rates highly amongst our expedition travellers.
For overland safaris (not bolt-ons) we classify day 1 as an arrival day. For these trips we also include your airport arrival transfer and the first nights accommodation at our pre-expedition hostel or campsite (included as part of the local payment you make on day one). We find most of our travellers arrive on long-haul flights, so this move provides you with a hassle free arrival into Africa. It also affords the chance for everyone to assemble in plenty of time and importantly, get a good night’s bed rest.
If you would to extend your stay and require additional accommodation before your safari starts, we can arrange pre tour accommodation for you. Whilst on the go can reserve additional accommodation for you, the additional cost must be paid locally. Please also note that if you choose to upgrade your accommodation on day 1 (subject to availability), this additional cost is also payable locally.
Per arrival point, pre-expedition accommodation is offered to our passengers at the establishments listed below:

The level of accommodation used on our lodge safaris is typical mid-range African lodges, chalets and permanent tented camps. It is rare in Africa for lodges and camps to be given a star rating (eg 2,3,4 or 5 star) and therefore the standard can often be hard to categorise. Typically the accommodation used is the equivalent of 3 - 4 star standard although at times it is necessary to utilise simple lodges/camps to allow us to be in the best areas. Our emphasis is always on comfort, cleanliness and well managed lodgings, whilst ensuring we make the most of our surroundings. In certain destinations, to add to the true wilderness experience, simple accommodation in a spectacular location is preferable to accommodation with more amenities in a less desirable location.

Pre and post tour accommodation can be arranged upon request. In cases when tours depart very early on day 1 and return in the afternoon on the final day, we highly recommend that you book extra accommodation to ensure that you are well rested before the tour starts and to account for inevitable delays which may occur on return. Be sure to take this into account when booking flights. Please contact us for pre/post accommodation prices.
Luring travellers to its shores for centuries, Africa is certainly not new to tourism. Africa will surprise and delight even the frequent traveller or second time visitor, with the almost overwhelming choice of accommodation available. Be it a luxury tented camp with full facilities, a fabulous five star resort, an opulent lodge, a small boutique-style hotel or a modern all-amenities hotel, Africa offers a vast choice of accommodation styles and standards.

On your tailor-made holiday, enjoy the best of both worlds with a bespoke mix of hotels - perhaps a lodge one night, a luxury tented camp the next night, a deluxe hotel with all those lavish amenities just waiting to be sampled and then a night or two in a small boutique-style hotel. We can advise upon choices available at all locations to be featured on your touring itinerary and can offer further information on any choice of accommodation.
