eclipse 2009, xmas & new year

Total Solar EclipsePartial eclipses of the sun pale in comparison to the overwhelming spectacle of a total solar eclipse! On Wednesday, 22 July 2009, a total eclipse of the sun will be visible from within a narrow corridor, which traverses a third of the Earth.

The eclipse will start off the West coast of India and travel north east passing over Varanasi and Darjeeling lasting for a duration of approximately 3 minutes, then onward through Bhutan and Bangladesh till it reaches China. China will experience the very best visual of the impressive 2009 eclipse. Passing over Chongqing, the great Yangtze with its three Gorges and the coastline of Shanghai, viewers have the advantage of being positioned directly beneath the centre line and ultimately, will experience the maximum totality of the black out. Add the great 2009 total solar eclipse to your next season's holiday abroad. on the go offer the opportunity to witness the display in holy Varanasi, tea tree terraced Darjeeling, Bhutan, aboard a Yangtze River cruiser crossing the Three Gorges and from the coast of the East China Sea, just south of Shanghai.

on the go has many years of successfully organising sightseeing and eclipse viewing holidays around the world. Our latest sightseeing & eclipse tours were held in Egypt and Turkey in 2006, Russia, Siberia and China in 2008. We are a well established tour operator and are AAA bonded for financial protection of your holiday funds - rest assured that it is safe to travel with us!

Choosing a holiday in China for the Total Solar Eclipse? Try our 5 day Eclipse on Shanghai, from Beijing to Xi'an and onward to Shanghai - check out our 10 day Solar Eclipse Great Wall & Warriors or witness the event whilst cruising the Yangzte on our 10 day Yangtze Eclipse & Cruise or 15 day Yin & Yangtze Eclipse. Places on our 2009 eclipse tours are strictly limited so please book in advance to avoid disappointment.

A Chinese New Year
A great way to spend Xmas and New Year. Imagine climbing the Great Wall on Christmas Day, visiting the Terracotta Warriors in Xi'an then flying to Harbin in China's far north for the International Ice Sculpture Festival. Harbin becomes a winter wonderland as an international team work round the clock creating massive snow and ice sculptures. Some stand over 6 metres tall and in previous years sculpters have built a Great walls on China complete with big dipper slippery slide, the Emperor's Summer Palace with forts and towers to climb along. The entire town is filled with festivity and donned with thousands of coloured lights illuminating the creations and the not to be missed Ice World Theme Park. So, pack your winter woolies and get your skates on and enjoy a hair raising Chinese New Year.
