Day 1: Lima Welcome to Peru! Arrive at any time today, and transfer to your hotel. This evening is the welcome meeting and the chance to meet your fellow travellers. Overnight – Lima.
Day 2: Pisco Take the morning to explore Lima’s many museums or shop for local handicrafts at the Mercado Indio. This afternoon we take the bus 230km south to Pisco where this evening we sample the local brandy, which takes its name from the grapes produced in the region. Overnight - Pisco.
Day 3: Nazca If you are interested in bird life, rise early for our optional excursion to the Islas Ballestas. Often described as the ‘Poor Man’s Gallapagos’, the islands feature an abundance of birdlife, penguins and sea lions. En-route to Nazca, time is taken to check-out Ica, famous for its beaches, wineries and distilleries, as well as sandboarding in the tiny oasis of Huacachina. Overnight - Nazca. |

Day 4: Nazca
Part of the coastal desert, Nazca is the site of one of the world’s greatest unexplained mysteries - the Nazca Lines – a flight over is recommended (weather permitting). We also visit the fascinating Chauchilla Cemetery, which hold mummies, dating from AD 1000. This evening we take the overnight bus to Arequipa.
Day 5: Arequipa
Situated in a fertile valley, the city is based around the colonial Plaza Des Arms. Have a coffee overlooking Arequipa’s main square and soak up the atmosphere. For those interested in colonial architecture or ecclesiastical churches, join the optional excursion to the faithfully restored Moasterio de Santa Catalina. Overnight - Arequipa.
Days 6 - 7: Colca Canyon
On a rough and winding road we head towards the world’s second deepest canyon and make our way to Chivay. Our base for two nights, there is ample time to take short hikes and a dip in the hot springs, as well as touring the surrounding villages stopping often at miradors, hoping to spot Condors. Day 8: Puno
Travelling on to Puno, which is located on the shores of Lake Titicaca and the highest point at which we stay. Overnight - Puno.
Days 9 & 10: Lake Titicaca
This morning we travel by boat to Taquile Island, to observe a unique and fascinating culture. After lunch, we head for Amantani Island and the opportunity to experience a rural way of life in homestay accommodation. Returning to Puno, we stop at the ‘floating Islands’ of Uros where the native Totora reed is used for building homes, boats and handicrafts. Days 11 & 12: Cuzco
Travelling through the stark but beautiful altiplano, we reach Cuzco this afternoon. Day 12 is free for you to soak up the atmosphere of this colonial town. Take a tour of the Sacred Valley, explore the local markets or museums featuring Incan History otherwise simply relax in a café overlooking the Plaza des Armes. Overnight (2) - Cuzco.
Days 13 - 15: Inca Trail
An early start, we proceed to km82 and the beginning of the Inca Trail a challenging however ultimately rewarding 42km trek. Day 2 includes the highest point of the trail, and reaches 4200m. This is physically, the most demanding point; however, the views are spectacular! Breakfast, lunch, dinner and overnight (3) - Inca Trail.
Day 16: Machu Picchu
Our final morning here begins prior to dawn as we walk the last steps to the Sun Gate. We’re guided around the site before we spend the remainder of the time on our own, to explore as we wish. This afternoon return to Cuzco by train. Overnight - Cuzco.
Day 17: Cuzco
Today is free to re-visit your favourite parts of Cuzco. Overnight - Cuzco.
Days 18 & 19: Amazon Jungle
To arrive at our Jungle base in the Tambopata Rainforest Area, we fly first to Puerto Maldonado before continuing by motorised canoe. Once settled, feel free to take advantage of the local naturalists, who will be on hand to guide you through the area’s wide variety of animal, bird and plant life and to demonstrate traditional techniques for building and fishing. Breakfast, lunch and overnight (2) - Jungle Lodge.
Day 20 & 21: Lima
Returning to Lima for one last night, departure can be scheduled for any time on day 21. Overnight - Lima (day 20).
