Bolt-ons
Make the most of your time away! Listed below are the optional activities that are available on this trip. Please note that you will need to book these prior to travel as we cannot always guarantee availability of these activities once you are on holiday.
| Abu Simbel, possibly the most awe-inspiring temple of all ancient Egypt, with its gigantic rock–cut façade, was created to revere the mighty ruler Ramses II. Guarding the entrance to the temple, the 4 colossal statues of Ramses II sit majestically staring out across the desert, seemingly since time began. This excursion is offered on all tours visiting Aswan. |
| An aerial adventure awaits in Luxor! Imagine drifting silently over temples, ancient sites, ruins and villages in the early morning sun. See ancient Thebes from a different angle as you float above the River Nile and wave down at the locals as you drift a few metres from their open rooftops! |
| The pharaoh's pass offers a combined money-saving upgrade to the sleeper train cabin when travelling between Cairo and Aswan and an upgrade from the included felucca, to that of a Nile 5 star cruiser. Our cruiser has its own bar, lounge, restaurants and swimming pool. Your onboard cabin is well-equipped with private bathroom and air-conditioning for your comfort. All meals are included on your 3 night stay. Seasonal supplements may apply.
|
| Foresaking the overnight bus journey from Luxor to Dahab which is included on all group tours visiting Dahab, you can opt to travel by flight from Luxor to Sharm el Sheikh and transfer on to Dahab, enjoying an extra night of comfort in a Luxor or Dahab hotel and reduced travelling time.
|
| Carry on your Egyptian affair before or after your tour, with a day tour (with lunch) to amazing Alexandria on the Mediterranean Coast. Founded by Alexander the Great, Alexandria boasts wonderful beaches and an impressive seafront corniche, along which are dotted cafes and restaurants, as well as catacombs, souks and relics from a bygone age.

Feluccas are simple, traditional sailboats, with broad sails, that have plied the mighty Nile since ancient times. Sail during the day, taking in the colourful sights of the Nile village life en-route, soak up the sun, relax, jump in for a swim and let the peaceful routine of life aboard allow, you to escape the stress of everyday life! | The Rose City of Petra is the jewel in Jordan’s glittering archaeological crown, and is now one of the New 7 Wonders of the World. Accessed on a walk through a narrow, deep and winding cleft in the rock that is known as the Siq, the end prize is the hidden valley where the Rose City of Petra lies. And the first sight to behold is the façade of Al-Kazneh – aka the Treasury of Petra. This rose red building actually served as a royal tomb, but got its name from the legend that pirates hid their treasure there. With a backstory like that and its amazing appearance its no surprise to learn that it was this building that served as the Holy Grail’s resting place In Indiana Jones and the last crusade.

Postcards
Here's what some of our past travellers have written in to us and said about their experiences on this trip.
Hi Charlie,
Just wanting to say thank you for all of your assistance with the booking of our Road to Jordan trip. Laura and I had the time of our lives.
Personally, I have always wanted to travel to Egypt above all other destinations. So to put my expectations in the hands of a tour company was somewhat of a risk I guess you could say. But I glad to say I am very happy we decided to travel with OnTheGo.
I also wanted to make extra special mention of our tour guide, Romany. The man is an absolute legend! At no point while under his guidance did we feel unsafe, lost, dissapointed, unwelcome or un-entertained!
I have been on a number of tours before, and Romany has easily been the standout in my Tour Guide category.
Again, thanks for all of your help.
Clint & Laura, Jul 2010
Overall the tour was great. Tour leader fantastic - very informative with amazing sense of humour. I loved the way everything was so organized. We never had to wait for room keys or entry tickets. Tipping kitty is an excellent idea, makes it easy for everyone. Standard of accommodation was very good.
Susan Gill, May 2010
I did the 17 day Road To Jordan with On The Go, I had the most incredible time! Everything went smoothly without a hitch. In fact, I wanted to extend my trip by a few days because I didn't want to leave.
Every guide we had was fantastic. I can't fault them for anything. They're a credit to the company.
I would definitely recommend On The Go to anyone who's interested in travelling to Egypt and Jordan. In fact, my next holiday, if all goes well, will be a safari to South Africa, which On The Go does. So they'll defiinitely be at the top of my list when I come to make that decision.
Valerie D., May 2010
We would like to give some feedback regarding our recent trip with your company to Egypt and Jordan. We were a group of six travelling together and all had a great time. Special thanks go to the tour guides - they did an excellent job. In Egypt we had Sam on our day trips, Big Mo on our 17day tour and an extra thanks to Okla who guided us through Jordan - he was excellent.
The accomodation was of a great standard and we would have no hesitation in recommending your tours to others.
On the go showed us as much as they could in that short time.
We would also like to give an extra special mention to Tamer tour leader who looked after our transfers and hotel while in Cairo. As we were in Cairo during the volcano flight disruption, he went out of his way to find us extra accomodation in hotels and also made sure we made our flights from Cairo. He has a real
gift with people and I am sure one day soon he will make a good tour guide.
Robyn & Dudley Farrow, Apr 2010
Tour leader had a wealth of knowledge and taught me a lot about Egypt, along with allowing me to experience all the adventures I never thought I could do.
All the staff and new friends I met made this trip an unforgettable one.
I can't wait to go back to Sydney and share my experience of Egypt's art and culture with my friends and family.
Thank you so much!
Odette Luangsy, Apr 2010
Great tour! Guides were fantastic, very well organized and friendly. They were helpful and went beyond duty to make sure our holiday was special.
We saw huge part of Egypt, with pyramids and temples, we had time to relax in beautiful Dahab and spend few days exploring mystical Jordan. Wonderful experience!
Will definitely recommend Road to Jordan to friends.
Sheree, Mar 2010
This tour was excellent - well organized, well executed and highly enjoyable.
Sam was an amazing tour guide who managed to find a wonderful balance of humor and history to keep everything interesting and entertaining.
There was an amazing group atmosphere which was also due to good leadership & management.
Thanks for an unforgettable experience.
Smeeta Singh, Feb 2010
I will definitely recommend on the go to anyone wanting to go to Egypt.
Hotels and transportation were great. On the Go staff were all excellent and very helpful. Their love for Egypt is contagious and I will be coming back to Egypt soon!
