Health It is recommended that you be vaccinated for Tetanus and Polio, if you haven't had a booster in the last ten years. Food and waterborne diseases are more common, so we recommend vaccinations for typhoid (valid 3 years) and Hepatitis A (validity varies). Please consult your physician or travel clinic for further details.

Food, glorious food Moroccan cooking is characterized by rich spices, with mixtures that combines anywhere from ten to a hundred spices. Couscous is traditional chow and often cooked with spices, vegetables, nuts, and raisins. It’s a meal in itself, though it is often topped with rich stews and roasted meats. Lamb is a principal meat and is cooked until tender enough to be pulled apart and eaten with the fingers. Tagines are a fruity meat and vegetable stew cooked for some time. Savory foods are enhanced with fruits, dried and fresh and preserved lemons are used in many poultry dishes. Pine nuts, almonds, and pistachios are often used as well. Moroccan desserts are uncompromisingly rich. A common dessert is kaab el ghzal (‘gazelle’s horns’), which is a pastry stuffed with almond paste and topped with sugar. Try also honey cakes, which are essentially pretzel-shaped pieces of dough deep-fried and dipped into a hot pot of honey and sprinkled with sesame seeds!

Have tent – will camp We provide spacious, easily-erectible 2 person A-frame or dome tents with sewn-in ground sheets and fly sheet, as well as camp beds. We stay at a combination of hotels, campsites and bush or desert camps. Campsites range from well-established camps with an array of facilities that sometimes includes a bar, mini-mart or even a pool to more basic camps with few facilities and cold showers. Dependent upon our day-to-day itinerary, at times we will bush camp. That is to say, when we can’t travel any further or there is no permanent campsite in the vicinity, we will locate a suitable place and pitch camp. Bush camping on occasion allows us to return to the great outdoors and really be at one with nature. Bush camping rates highly amongst our expedition travellers. You will need to bring your own sleeping bag, as these are not provided. Please note that on our Sarhro & Sahara trek we will be bush camping with very basic facilities, see Go Guide for details.

Hotels
The hotels are basic, clean and comfortable and centrally located. In smaller towns, the choice of accommodation may be limited but based on our group tour standards, we will always book the best accommodation available for our groups. Hotels in Morocco do not always provide towels so you will need to bring your own. Please be aware that many Moroccan hotels and Riad's do not have heating and whilst every effort is made to utilise hotels with heating in the winter, in smaller more remote areas this is not always possible.

Vehicles On our Camels Souks & Kasbaks camping expedition we use a comfortable, yet durable and practical expedition truck. Our trucks are constructed to a design that allows for optimum space and comfort for passengers and their luggage as well as panoramic viewing from large windows. Our trucks are fitted with multi directional seating, affording a more social experience for travellers, whilst large water, fuel and food capacities allow for extensive travelling range. There are 12/240 volt charging facilities on all trucks but not necessarily on all minivans which we use on some occasions for smaller groups. On all of our hotel and trekking tours we use either comfortable 12 seater minivans or 4x4 landcruisers.
