boats and more
Have boat, will sail Imagine spending seven whole days relaxing aboard a traditionally designed sailing boat, cruising to different islands and inlets everyday! Extending some 1778-km and studded with awesome 1185 offshore islands, Croatia’s stunning Adriatic coast is where it is. Croatia offers natural scenery, plenty of history, world-class old towns and attractions such as Split and famous Dubrovnik, plenty of adventure activity options such as kayaking and wind-surfing, Medieval and Baroque architecture, remnants of the Romans, centuries of pride, fantastic food and buckets of culture.

If you’re planning on chasing the sun this summer, make it Croatia, a pearler of a place for a top tan and good times.
Croatia is easy to get to, with regular flights from the UK and Europe (not included) and when you get there, you can opt to enjoy a night or two at your own pace in Split or Dubrovnik, before the boat sets sail.
Part of the fun is sharing your travel experiences with an international mix of travellers aboard the sailing boat. You’ll have a different view from on deck everyday, enjoy a freshly prepared breakfast and lunch each day and the sailing boat will visit a range of different ports. With plenty of time for sun baking, socialising, snorkelling, swimming, relaxing and chatting, Croatia is a just a hop, skip and a jump away for your next holiday in the summer sun.
Designed to comfortably accommodate passengers with plenty of deck space, public areas and of course cabins, Croatian wooden sailing boats (similar in design to a Turkish gulet) are a classic design. Usually masted and rigged (with onboard motor power), they offer plenty of deck space for relaxation under the sun and a chance to taker in the sea breeze, public areas and cabin accommodation. Individual boat design varies slightly from craft to craft, but all sailing boats offer a range of cabin types (some above, some below deck), capable of accommodating from 2 to sometimes 3 or4 passengers and with private en suite bathroom or facilities shared between a couple of cabins.
See the price structure for further details based on your requirements. We take advantage of a number of boats to operate on our prescribed routes.
Classic boats offer mostly twin bunk cabin accommodation with private en suite bathrooms. Dependant upon the craft, triples and more occasionally - double-bedded cabins are sometimes available. Classic boats operate on all our cruises.
Costsaver boats offer ONLY twin bunk cabins (most with wash basin), all with shared bathroom facilities. The ratio of cabins to bathrooms is around 4-5 cabins : 1 bathroom on average.
Costsaver boats operate on our Sailing Split and also our Onboard at Opatija. All boats offer plenty of deck space and room to lounge about! You’ll be in the company of like-minded travellers. Relax as the captain and his support crew look after your needs. An onboard cook prepares breakfast and lunch each day, whilst in the evening; we offer you the chance to explore dining options at our numerous ports of call. Dalmatian food is very good. As the cruise offers emphatically relaxation, it is entirely up to you how you enjoy each port of call. Relax or explore? The choice is yours!

Food aboard the cruise Continental breakfast and lunch are provided.
Continental breakfast will comprise tea or coffee, fruit juice, bread, butter and preserves, plus cold cuts and cheeses.
Lunch will comprise a starter of home made soup or paste (during hot periods), a main course (where at least 2-3 times per week fish will be served) comprising either fish, meat or chicken with a minimum of two sides (potatoes, cabbage, other vegetables) and side salad and desert. Desert will also be offered and will comprise something like seasonal fruits, ice cream or perhaps pancakes.
All menus are designed and cooked by the onboard cook.
If fancying a full-cooked English-style breakfast, this can be arranged by ordering and paying for it on the boat, at nominal cost. Consult a member of the crew to arrange this.
In addition, provided there is enough interest (i.e more than 10 participants), the cook can arrange a special onboard Captain’s Dinner, at a charge locally. Check out what your fellow travellers are doing and if you feel like partaking, go ahead and pay for what is usually a very enjoyable evening!

What’s to drink? A bar operates on board all boats. Prices are in line with those one will pay in port at bars/cafes for beers, wines, basic spirits, mixers, soft drinks and bottled mineral water.
Since there is a bar aboard, it is not possible to consume personal supplies of alcohol or beverages not purchased aboard. If you were found to be flouting this rule, you would be asked to consume such personal supplies when ashore.
The same would happen if you were drinking BYO drinks in a hotel lobby! You’d be asked to consume the drink(s) beyond the confines of the hotel!

Vegetarian? If you’re an Ovo Lacto Vegetarian, subject to advance advice (on your booking form), we can cater generally towards Vegetarians. By this, we mean that although we don’t specifically cater to Vegetarians, the onboard cook will ensure that a Vegetarian gets more vegetables/foodstuffs suitable for Vegetarians. Please be aware that all ingredients and meal composition will be subject to locally available/sourced foodstuffs. There will not be as much variety as you might perhaps be used to in your own home or favourite restaurant/café back home. With this in mind, there will be no hidden surprises or disappointment for you.

Nationality of crew The boat crew is Croatian. Most but not all speak English. You can expect to encounter traditional people with traditional values. They are excellent hosts and go out their way to ensure you have a fantastic cruising experience.

Boat owners The boats we operate our cruises upon are locally owned and operated by their crew who often sail in the summer and work on their boats or at other professions in the winter. The boats are often originally from the small ports you’ll visit en route. Our Croatian partners ensure all boats and crew operate to a high standard.

Hotel accommodation (pre or post cruise) A boat will make up the biggest proportion of your Sail Croatia holiday, however, we do offer hotel accommodation to those looking at spending additional time in Split, Dubrovnik or perhaps Opatija before or after their cruise.
We’ve done our homework and have chosen hotels that factor in comfort and traveller’s needs - such as proximity to local transport, restaurants, shops and attractions. On all our programs, we utilise superior tourist class hotels (locally rated as 3 - 4 star) with the emphasis on accommodating you in well-managed hotels that factor in comfort, cleanliness and a modest range of guest facilities rather than putting on the Ritz. All guest rooms offer an en suite bathroom, a television and occasionally a ‘fridge. Most of our Croatian hotels offer a range of guest facilities such as a restaurant or coffee shop and sometimes-additional facilities such as a bar, shops, and currency exchange.
