If wanting to do the Inca trail, we recommend booking at least 6 months prior to your chosen date of departure, if not before, as the Peruvian government has restricted the amount of people who can do the trail by way of an Inca trail permit and these get quickly booked up. If you are wanting to attend the Rio Carnival you should also book well in advance. Rio Carnival is the most popular party in the world so make sure you book your accommodation and flights early to avoid disappointment. If planning to travel at Christmas and Easter we recommend booking as early as possible. Our tour departures during these times prove to be very popular, and by booking your flights in advance it will help you to get the best deal.
Yes! We take lots of single travellers to South America, and the great thing about our trips its that you are in a group so you will always have plenty of company, and the shared experience is a great way to form some lasting friendships.
Most of our trips do not have a single supplement. This means that the accommodation is on a twin share basis and, if you are travelling on your own, you will be sharing a room with another traveller of the same sex. Some tours have an optional single supplement or rarely a mandatory single supplement.
On all South American group tours we welcome children 12 years and above. All children between 12 and 17 years of age must be accompanied by an adult and the ratio must be 1 adult per two children and 2 adults per 4 children.
We welcome children of all ages on our tailormade holidays.
There are no upper age limits on our tours however It is very important you are aware that, as a minimum, an average level of fitness and mobility' is required to undertake our easiest programs. Travellers must be able to walk without the aid of another person, climb 3-4 flights of stairs, step on and off small boats, and carry their own luggage at a minimum. Travelers with pre existing medical conditions are required to complete a medical questionnaire which will be provided at time of booking, and your doctor will need to sign this.
We strongly recommend bringing a backpack or duffel bag, as suitcases can be cumbersome and difficult to store in buses, under seats, etc.. Keep in mind that you will normally have to carry your own luggage on and off buses and trains and up and down hotel staircases. Suitcases with wheels may not work well on dirt or cobblestone roads.
Airport transfers are not included in group tours but can be booked at an additional cost upon request.
