About Agadir
Framed on one side by a glittering coast line, complete with golden powder sand and sparkling water, Agadir is one of Morocco's top beach destinations. With sunshine guaranteed for the vast majority of the year, this seaside resort is the perfect getaway and offers all who venture there a chance to unwind whilst soaking up some warm rays or taking a dip in the clean and refreshing water. Following an earthquake in 1960, the city was given a major revamp and is now home to dozens of trendy pubs and bars as well as its fair share of gourmet restaurants, serving everything from couscous to pizza.
Read MoreWhile the first and foremost activity to indulge in during a trip to Agadir is lying on the beach, there are plenty of other things to do as well as some intriguing historical sites worth visiting. Dating back to 1572 is the old kasbah that sits atop a hill, looking down over the city. Hike up to the top to see what remains of this relic and to get some stunning vistas out over the bay of Agadir. Once you've climbed back down again, soak those aching muscles in one of the local hammams.
For a taste of Moroccan culture, immerse yourself in the sensory delights that is the Souk El Had. With so much noise and color, wandering among the thousands of different stalls, hawking everything from fruit to clothes, is an experience in itself regardless of whether you purchase anything or not. Alternatively, visitors can take a trip to the nearby Medina, which was reconstructed following the earthquake.
