Following an earthquake in 1960, the city was given a major revamp and is now home to dozens of trendy pubs and bars as well as its fair share of gourmet restaurants, serving everything from couscous to pizza.

With so much noise and color, wandering among the thousands of different stalls, hawking everything from fruit to clothes, is an experience in itself regardless of whether you purchase anything or not. Alternatively, visitors can take a trip to the nearby Medina, which was reconstructed following the earthquake.
