Lilac breasted Roller - National Bird of Botwana
Day 2: Chobe national Park
Livingstone - Chobe National Park. At 8:00am we head for the border to Botswana, where after border formalities, we cross the Zambezi River by ferry, on our way to Kasane. Kasane is a pleasant town situated on the edge of the Chobe National Park and the Chobe River. Chobe National Park is the second largest park in Botswana, best known for its elephants – there are around 120,000 of them! Along with buffalo, antelope, hippo and predators. Chobe has one of the greatest concentrations of game found on the African continent.

This afternoon we begin exploring the national park from the river on a scenic boat cruise. Elephant, hippo and many bird species including the regal African Fish Eagle and Pied Kingfisher can be viewed from the boat while we watch a glorious African sunset. Overnight - Chobe NP (L, D)

Day 3: Makgadikgadi Pans
Chobe National Park - Makgadikgadi Pans. This morning we are greeted by the sound of the resident Hippos! After breakfast, we make our way south to the Makgadikgadi Pans (weather permitting) where we get our first glimpse of the semi-arid Mopane woodland scenery. Makgadikgadi is technically not a single pan but many pans with sandy desert in between, and it is said to be the largest complex of salt pans in the world. Overnight - Makgadikgadi Pans (B, L, D)
Day 4: Maun
Makgadikgadi Pans - Maun. Today we travel to Maun, the gateway to the Okavango Delta. The town has shops, markets and modern facilities such as internet cafes. We spend the afternoon at leisure preparing for our trip into the Delta tomorrow. Overnight - Maun (B, L, D)
The mokoro poling station
Day 5: Okavango Delta
Maun - Okavango Delta. After an early breakfast we depart in 4x4 vehicles to the Delta Region. Described as the ‘river which never finds the sea’, the amazing Okavango Delta is a huge expanse of water that has travelled from the Kavango River in the Angolan highlands, and fans out onto the upper Kalahari region to form the largest inland Delta in the world. It disappears into a 15,000 sq km maze of lagoons, channels and islands, brimming with bird-life and wild animals including elephant, buffalo, zebra, giraffe, wildebeest, hippo and hoofed animals.

The best way to see the largest inland delta in the world is by mokoro, traditionally a canoe dugout from a large tree, today a more environmentally friendly version, equally well-suited to the shallow waters of the delta.

We drive to a mokoro (local dugout canoe) station where we meet our local guides & polers who will escort us on today’s excursion. You can relax and take in the beautiful scenery and wildlife while your poler navigates you past water ponies, hippos and large lakes of waterlillies!

In the late afternoon we have the option to gain a wonderful birds eye view of the Delta by taking an optional scenic flight. Overnight - Okavango Delta (B, L, D)
Days 6 - 7: Moremi Game Reserve
Okavango Delta - Moremi. We head off early for the Moremi Game Reserve. Moremi lies on the eastern side of the Okavango Delta and is home to many different species of Wildlife. It is here that lion, elephant, buffalo and many other species are often sighted. The Game Reserve itself covers a little over 1000km² and was declared a protected area in 1961 when the widow of Chief Moremi the 3rd feared that the wildlife was under threat due to hunting. Although relatively small in size, Moremi is a surprisingly diverse reserve, combining mopane woodland and acacia forests, floodplains and lagoons. We game drive within the park to seek out some of the resident wildlife. Overnight - Moremi Game Reserve (B:2, L:2, D:2)
A monkey and her baby
Day 8: Lions at Savuti
Moremi - Savuti. Continuing on through the wilderness, we game drive further north-east into the Savuti region. Savuti is well known for the prides of lion that make it their home, and spotted hyena populations. Tonight we enjoy the sounds of the wilderness from deep within the heart of Botswana. Overnight - Savuti (B, L, D)
Day 9: Chobe National Park
Savuti - Chobe National Park. Once through the Savuti region, we return to Chobe National Park, entering from the southern side and exploring the more remote inner section of the park. Overnight - Chobe NP (B, L, D)
The mighty Victoria Falls - one of Seven Natural Wonders of the World
Day 10: Livingstone
Chobe National Park - Livingstone. This morning starts with a final early morning game drive into Chobe National Park to explore the river front area by vehicle. We return in the late morning, and make our way back to Livingstone via the Kazangula Ferry.

Spend the late afternoon at leisure relaxing along the banks of the Zambezi and enjoying the beautiful surroundings. Overnight - Livingstone (B, L, D)
