Explorers' Quest - 20 days

Take a relaxed sail through the Southern Ocean from the tussock covered Falkland Islands (Islas Malvinas) to the Antarctic Peninsula via the wildlife paradise of South Georgia. Landings and Zodiac cruising enable close encounters with penguins, whales and seals when conditions permit. Experience the Antarctic in comfort aboard the Clipper Adventurer ship and benefit from an expert team of guides, historians and guest lecturers.

Day 1: Ushuaia
Arrive Ushuaia, Tierra del Fuego, the world's most southern city! The remains of the day are free, make your way to our pre expedition hotel. Overnight - Ushuaia hotel
Day 2: Embarkation Day
Spend the morning at leisure exploring Ushuaia. We take a group transfer from the hotel to Ushuaia port and board the Clipper Adventurer this afternoon. Setting sail down the Beagle Channel we begin our Antarctic adventure! Overnight - Aboard ship (B, D)

Days 3 - 5: Falkland Islands
At sea we begin an in-depth, illustrated education program which examines the flora and fauna that we'll will encounter. Relax and enjoy life aboard and the incredible array of birdlife as we sail to our first destination. The diversity of wildlife makes the Falklands (Malvinas) a photographer’s and naturalist’s paradise. The islands are home to many species of penguins, King, Rockhopper, Gentoo and Magellanic and dolphins, whales and seals are often sighted in the waters surrounding the islands. Upon arrival we stroll through tussock grass where Kelp Geese graze and visit a Rockhopper Penguin rookery, balanced on the edge of steep cliffs. We'll also stop for tea with a local family before departing for South Georgia. Overnight - Aboard ship (B:3, L:3, D:3)

Days 6 - 11: Southern Ocean & South Georgia
After two days at sea we reach Antarctica, arriving at the beautiful and wildlife rich island of South Georgia, which is synonymous with Sir Ernest Shackleton's rescue of the crew of Endurance. Our exploration of South Georgia includes a visit to his gravesite, a chapel and museum that depict how life was lived in this sheltered cove until it was abandoned in 1966. On South Georgia we're likely to encounter wandering Albatrosses, Giant Pestrels Weddell Seals, Crested Macaroni Penguins and Reindeer. There will be visits to King Penguin rookeries and Zodiac cruises past beaches where elephant seal bulls protect their harems. Overnight - Aboard ship (B:6, L:6, D:6)

Days 12 - 17: South Shetland Islands & Antarctic Peninsular
The journey from South Georgia to the Antarctic Peninsula takes three days. During that time the Expedition Team prepares you for the landings that conjure iconic images of the Peninsula - Deception Island, Lemaire Channel, Neko Harbour, Paradise Bay, and Gerlache Strait. They are on our list of possible shore landings as we explore. We'll visit penguin colonies, listen for calving glaciers and visit historic sites or research stations. Days 18 - 19: The Drake Passage
As our expedition comes to an end we sail back up the Drake Passage, soaking up the atmosphere and breathtaking vistas. Overnight - Aboard ship (B:2, L:2, D:2)
Day 20: Ushuaia
Our arrival into Ushuaia on day 20 marks the end of this incredible experience, a group transfer to the airport is included. (B)
