A group of New Zealanders at ANZAC Cove

Postcards from Gallipoli

Here's what some of our previous ANZAC Day traveller's have to say about their holiday with us.

Hi Rachel,

First day back at work after my holiday in Turkey :/

I just wanted to say a big thank-you and let you know that I had a fabulous time! The group age was a little higher than what I was expecting but there were about 6 people around my age which was great and the oldies ended up being great entertainment. The trip was an excellent pace and had the best tour guide that I have had on my trips so far, very very impressed and he had excellent feedback from everyone else on the tour.

Thanks a tonne!

Our tour director was Huseyin Salikoglu. He is Turkish, but his English was amazing and very easy to understand. Huseyin was very knowledgable about his country and could tell us so much about all the sites we visted. He was always there when you needed him and easily grabbed the attention of everyone. We were always on time if not early and we put that down to him having control and understanding of the group. He also organised for the bus to take people to the airport at the end of the tour (at our own cost but cheaper than a taxi). Turkey was such an amazing country and thanks to our tour guide and bus driver we had a great time and learnt so much. Would definately recommend On The Go.

I would recommend the Anzac Day experience at Gallipoli to anyone now I have been. I have been a bit hesitant about going for the service, however On the Go looked after us and made it as smooth as possible. It was such a memorable experience and something I am so glad I have been able to pay my respects. The rest of the trip was such fun – we had a great group and our tour guide was lots of fun whilst ensuring we saw as much of Turkey as we could. Hot Air Ballooning over Cappadocia was amazing – such a site to see over 30 hot air balloons so close at the same time. Then to cap it off shopping in the Grand Bazaar in Istanbul was great fun – lots of treasures bought to take home and remind me of the trip – plus don’t forget to taste the real Turkish delight!

Many Thanks

Well what can I say other than it was absolutely awesome!!! I honestly couldn't fault anything. Our tour guide (Huseyin Salikoglu) was absolutely amazing - he was so knowledgeable and provided some much great information, but still with a great sense of humour (and he is a brilliant singer and dancer!!!). In particular though, his management of our trip to Galipoli was above and beyond. He arranged it so we were the first bus in and first ones in the gate at Galipoli meaning we had the prime position on the grass right near the stage (I literally had the media just in front of me) and we were able to sleep overnight. And then he arranged so that we were the first bus to leave the sight after all the services and we went off down the hill looking at a queue of hundreds of buses as we were well on the road back to Istanbul. It was absolutley brilliant and I know everyone on the tour was super impressed.

The hotels were all fantastic and the service in terms of having luggage delivered to our rooms everywhere was something I certainly didn't expect. And all the breakfasts and dinners were all great (although not a huge fan of the Turkish food myself). And all the sightseeing was just perfect.

This tour was fantastic. I had a brilliant time and met some really great people. I was a little nervous as it was my first tour and I was doing this by myself but was made to feel welcome from the minute I landed!
Thanks OnTheGo!

Dear on the go,

I have been meaning to write for ages but time has got away from me. I would like to thank everybody involved in my brilliant tour of Turkey and Egypt. I took part in the Anzac and Ancient Egypt tour in April and had the time of my life. Anzac was incredible and something I have wanted to do my whole life and Egypt was amazing especially finishing the whole tour off in Dahab. This made for a relaxing finale. Thank you again and keep up the good work, Lachie.
