Accommodation in Egypt

Be it a glorious historical palace such as the Mena House at the foot of the Pyramids or the Old Cataract Hotel, perched overlooking the Nile at Aswan, a fabulous five star resort by the Red Sea, a modern luxury hotel overlooking the Nile in Cairo or a luxury cruise boat journey along the Nile or Lake Nasser, Egypt offers a vast array of accommodation.

Since hotel grading in Egypt may differ to what one expects as the standard in the West, on all tailor-made holiday quotations, we will provide Western standard gradings for all hotels featured; be it a 3, 4, 5 or 5-star deluxe rating. Whilst it can be difficult to categorise heritage style hotels, we’ll normally provide you with an equivalent Western rating, in accordance with the style and type of facilities and amenities on offer.

Pricing Guidelines for Private Holidays in Egypt

Prices can vary considerably for tailor-made travel as the quality of hotels, places visited and time of travel is entirely up to you.  In addition, you may choose to have a private guide to escort your right through your holiday in Egypt, or simply have the services of local Egyptian guides at each port of call.  Prices also vary by the number of people in your travelling party, as fixed costs like transportation and guiding are shared across each group. For an indication of the sorts of prices to expect for a private holiday in Egypt, please have a look at some of the Private Journeys featured on our website.  These are based on two people travelling, sharing a twin/double room.

Getting around Egypt whilst on holiday

  • Road Travel: Airport transfers and travel by road at each port of call will be in our own vehicles which are air-conditioned and of modern European standard.
  • Air Travel: We recommend covering large distances by internal flights which are normally on scheduled services with Egypt Air.
  • Train Travel: This is a convenient and reasonably comfortable way to travel from Cairo down south to Luxor and Aswan.  Sleeper class cabins are recommended.
  • Nile Cruising: An enjoyable and relaxing experience in Egypt is to cruise the mighty River Nile. Anchoring away from either Luxor or Aswan, Nile cruisers ply their route from Luxor south to Aswan or Aswan north to Luxor. With stunning views of the Nile and the many villages you sail past, ashore there are also sightseeing possibilities at Edfu and Kom Ombo.
  • Living it Local: For something a bit more more authentic and truly Egyptian, your could opt to sail the Nile by felucaas or traditional Dahabaya sail boats,  There plenty more on offer in Egypt too in the way of 4x4 desert drives and camel treks.
