Day 1: Delhi
Welcome to India! On arrival at 2200 we will meet you and take you to your hotel for the night.
Day 2: Delhi - Alsisar
Today you will meet up with Vijay to go over the details of your tour and answer any questions you may have. Then we will take the drive to Mandawa and you can xplore its forts and havelis at your leisure.
Day 3: Alsisar
After breakfast we will drive you to Alsisar, here you can explore the laneways and traditional life of this Rajasthani village.
Day 4: Alsisar - Bikaner
Today we head to Bikaner, another important staging post on the great caravan trade routes. Its fort has some of the finest interiors in India. This walled city has some exquisitely painted Jain temples to explore and is famous for the intricate rich gold painting work by Muslim artisans.
Day 5: Bikaner
Today we will take you out for a half day city tour to explore its Temples. This afternoon is yours at leisure - perhaps head out to the extraordinary Karni Mata Tenmple (30kms to the south) where thousands of holy rats are worshipped!!!!
Day 6: Bikaner - Jaisalmer
Today we continue on our in-depth tour and start driving through the Rajasthani Thar desert where we arrive at the medieval caravan outpost of Jaisalmer, one of the jewels in India’s crown. Exquisite wood and sandstone buildings dot the town and within Jaisalmer Fort are homes, hotels and shops hidden in ancient lane ways.
Day 7: Jaisalmer
Unique in India, this captivating sandy outpost is known as the Golden City, owing to the honey colour imparted to its stone ramparts by the setting sun. After breakfast at the hotel we will have a morning sightseeing tour of the city. This evening we head southwest to the peaceful village of Khuri
Day 9: Jaisalmer - Osian
Today we continue are Thar desert journey and head to the ancient town of Osian. Osian is famous as home to the cluster of ruined Brahmanical and Jain temples dating from the 8th to 11th centuries. The city was a major religious centre of the kingdom of Marwar during the Pratihara dynasty.
Day 10: Osian - Jodhpur
Today we head to the Blue City of Jodhpur - traditionally the colour of the Brahmin, and now thought to be an effective insect repellent! The old city is a tangle of winding streets, scented by incense, roses and sewers (!) with shops selling all you can imagine. And of course it is also the place where the horse riding trousers take their name!
Day 11: Jodhpur
Today you will enjoy some touring in this colourful Rajasthani city, taking in the mighty fort and bazaars of the old city which are gathered around the city’s tall clock tower. This afternoon is at your leisure to enjoy your hotels facilities or further exploration of the city.
Day 12: Jodhpur - Narlai
After a leisurely breakfast we drive to Narlai, where you can explore and discover the secrets of this village, situated underneath the Aravali Hills - you can perhaps explore the Jain temples at Rankapur which are only 30kms away.
Day 13: Narlai - Deogarh
Today we take the short drive to Deogarh where most of your time will be spent exploring the magnificent fort you are staying in.
Day 14: Deogarh - Udaipur
Today we drive to the romantic city of Udaipur. Misty ochre shadowed hills and pale intricate buildings encircle the mirror glass of Lake Pichola and the mythical Lake Palace sitting at its centre. Udaipur is also a centre for performing arts, painting and crafts.
Day 15: Udaipur
This morning enjoy touring of the imposing City Palace, a vision in soft yellow stone on the northeast promontory with breathtaking views of the lake. The City Palace is the largest palace complex in Rajasthan. You will also have a bit of free time to explore the palace or perhaps shop for colourful Rajasthani arts and crafts before your evening tranquil boat ride on Lake Pichola.
Day 17: Udaipur - Bijaipur
En-route to Bijaipur we will explore the magnificent russet coloured fort of Chittor sprwaling across the hills, and then head onto Bijaipur to enjoy your time at the 16th century converted palace.
Day 18: Bijaipur - Bundi
On arrival into Bundi today, it is like you have stepped back in time - it is a fascinating little town with a temple on every corner and narrow lanes full of blue houses leading off the main bazaar. A big part of its charm is it is off the beaten tourist track.
Day 19: Bundi
Today you will have a half day tour of this enchanting town, and explore the Taragarh fort built in 1354, along with the step wells of Nagar Sagar Kund.
Day 20: Bundi - Ranthambhore NP
Today we wil take the drive to the stunning Ranthambore National Park - its wild jungle has crumbling temples and mosques, crocodile filled lakes and is home to Project Tigers conservation efforts.
Day 21: Ranthambhore NP
In addition to the Bengal tiger, Ranthambhore is home to wild boar, nilgai, sambar deer and a variety of birds. Tiger spottings are more common in the morning or late afternoon and toady we will head out on game drives at both times for optimum viewing!
Day 22: Ranthambhore NP - Jaipur
After a final morning game drive for a final spot of wildlife viewing, you will head on to Jaipur; Rajasthan's pink capital and a place of dusty contrasts, bombarding your senses at every turn.
Day 23: Jaipur
Today enjoy a half day city tour of the City Palace, which boasts an interesting museum of regal attire and Jantar Mantar, an ancient astronomical observatory. This afternoon why not head out to the Amber Fort and approach atop an elephant!
Day 24: Jaipur
After breakfast we will take the short drive to Sanganer Sanganer is renowned for its crafts and hand-printed textiles and boasts ruined palaces and Jain Temples, which are carved with refinement.
Day 25: Jaipur
Moving on we head to Samode which again is famous for its handicrafts, havelis and mansions. And of course you will want to explore the fabulous Palace that you are staying in!
Days 26-28: Jaipur - Delhi
Today we drive to Delhi where you wil spend the next couple of days exploring at your leisure with a car and driver at your disposal.
Day 29: Delhi - Amritsar
After an early wake up call, we will transfer you to the train station for you 0720 train to Amritsar. On arrival at 1300 we will take you to your hotel and you can relax for the rest of the afternoon.
Day 30: Amritsar
Today a visit to the Famous Golden Temple the seat of the Sikh religion, Amritsar is one of the Punjab’s principal cities. Built in 1803 and made of marble, copper and pure leaf gold, the temple is an amazing architectural feat. Also you will enjoy a visit to Wagah - the only border crossing between India and Pakistan for the sunset ‘Retreat’ ceremony, where the changing of the guards & ceremonial lowering of the flags is performed with great pomp.
Day 31: Amritsar
Today is at your leisure to enjoy Amritsar in your own time, Amritsar is packed with great shopping, bustling markets and eataries, where you can sample some very unique dishes typical to the state of Punjab. Later this afternoon we will transfer you to the airport for your 1750 flight home.
