Day 1: Kochi

Welcome to India and the start of your holiday! Upon your arrival in Kochi, you will be met and transferred to your hotel. Formerly a princely state, Kochi is also fondly referred to as “The Queen of the Arabian Sea”. This evening is free for you to relax.

Day 2: Kochi - Periyar NP

We head south to Periyar today, South India's most popular wildlife sanctuary and home to bison, antelopes, sambar, wild boar deer and even Bengal tigers. This evening we visit a spice plantation.

Day 3: Periyar NP

There is plenty to do in and around Periyar, so we leave the choice to you. Enjoy an included early morning boat ride on Lake Periyar to spot herds of wild elephants or visit the lush nearby tea estates.

Day 4: Periyar NP - Munnar

A drive north to Munnar - a quaint hill station nestled on the verdant slopes of tea plantations, that exudes a rare old world charm and reminds one of the days of the Raj in its elegant splendour. At a height of 1525 metres, Munnar offers breathtaking views of the surrounding hills. Today is free for you to explore at your leisure.

Day 5: Munnar

Today enjoy a visit to a tea plantation and tea factory, where we learn about the various stages of tea processing.


Day 6: Munnar - Coonoor

Early morning departure as we head to Coonor. The serene hill station of Coonor lies in the arms of the Nilgiri Hills. This picturesque retreat is covered by grassy meadows, tea bushes, a profusion of sunflowers, marigolds and rhododendrons, all growing wild. Coonor is essentially a small tea garden town where the weather remains pleasantly cool throughout the year. This evening we visit a coffee plantation.

Day 7: Coonoor - Ooty

Today we take the short drive to Ooty. Udhagamandalam, still more commonly known as ‘Ooty’ in reference to a shortening of its anglicized name, Ottacamund, is a scenic ex-British hill station in the state of Tamil Nadu. Sitting at an altitude of 2260m in the cool, Nilgiri Hills, Ooty was discovered by John Sullivan a British burrasahib who quickly realised the potential of growing lucrative agricultural crops including tea and thus bought up tracts of land from the Toda tribe’s people.

Day 8: Ooty

Today is a free day for you to explore Ooty at your leisure.

Day 9: Ooty - Mysore

This morning we head to Mysore. Upon arrival enjoy a half day city tour. Named after the mythical Mahisuru, where the goddess Chamundi slew the demon Mahishasura, Mysore is is known for silk and incense. The highlight of Mysore is the Maharaja’s Palace, the present one being completed in 1912 after the original palace burnt down in 1897. Stained glass, beautifully carved wooden doors and wild colours make the interior quite stunning.

Day 10: Mysore - Kochi

Today we transfer to Mysore airport for our flight to Bangalore (14:20/15:10). We then take a connecting flight to Kochi (18:00/2000).

Day 11: Kochi - Alleppey

We take the short drive to Allepey today to board our deluxe house boat. Our private rice-boat takes us sedately along the enchanting palm-fringed backwaters, covering a distance of some 20 kms, during which time the boat glides past local villages and fascinating scenes of everyday rural life.

Day 12: Alleppey

Enjoy a relaxing day aboard your rice-boat. Watch a beautiful sunset over the backwaters and enjoy tasty meals prepared by the onboard chef using fresh local produce.

Day 13: Alleppey - Kochi

We disembark the houseboat after breakfast and drive back to Kochi. Today enjoy a half day city tour of Fort Kochi.

Day 14: Kochi

Today we bid your farewell. We transfer you to the airport for your onward journey.
