Our crew Our crew possess a passion for overland travelling. They are chosen for their extensive travel experience in these regions. The expedition is equipped with a team of 1/2 (comprising a driver/mechanic and trip leader). Our team will help you get the most out of your trip. Your Trip Leader’s role is to ensure that all aspects of the overland expedition run smoothly and as ‘crease-free’ as possible. Our Trip Leader’s are not trained historians or archaeologists, however he/she will keep you abreast during the trip of what’s going on and will happily provide local information such as where to eat and where to exchange money. The Trip Leader is not a babysitter and will not remain with the group 100% of the time. Whilst being a Trip Leader is a full-time job, the Trip Leader is entitled to some leisure time at appropriate times. On the occasion that things don’t go according to plan, your Trip Leader could need your understanding and patience whilst he/she works to resolving the problem. The Trip Leader will ultimately decide any changes to the route provided. If you are dissatisfied with any aspect of your expedition, please advise your Trip Leader, so that he/she can take steps to right the problem.

Cashed up How much you spend depends largely on individual tastes and often how much you eat, drink or shop. We currently recommend an average of GBP £10 per day on top of optional excursions. We can’t specify every sundry cost however you need to allow for expenses such as drinks, snacks, occasional meals out, postage and the odd souvenir.
Some days, you may spend very little. Other times, you may spend more. You’ll also need to pay the local payment in GB Pounds Sterling or Euros in cash. Credit cards are virtually useless outside main cities. Travellers Cheques are very difficult to change.

Exchange rate = £1 = 14.5 Dirham Overall, provided you budget correctly for your expedition, you won’t suffer any undue financial hardship en route. It’s a case of ‘have cash, will travel’. Just don’t expect that USD$5 a day will see you right! travel insurance.

Luggage Pack all your gear in a rucksack/backpack for this type of trip. Bring also a daypack, to keep personal items such as your camera, water bottle, reading books and medication to hand. Your rucksack/backpack must not have an exterior frame. Only the soft, flexible variety is permitted. Leave your suitcase at home, they’re simply not practical.

|
What to pack & bring Don’t overdo it.
Luggage Allowance - Luggage is limited to 20 KILOGRAMMES. Pack sensibly and consider garments that are easily washable, comfortable and cool. Morocco is warm to very hot during the summer months, though after the sun sets the temperature can plummet so it’s suggested you pack accordingly. It is also much colder at high altitudes, in the High Atlas.

Camp Sites Camels Souks and Kasbahs: On this overland expedition campsites range from well-established camps with an array of facilities that sometimes includes a bar, mini-mart or even a pool to bush camps with no facilities. Bush camping on occasion allows us to return to the great outdoors and really be at one with nature.
Trekking expeditions: On the trekking expeditions that involve camping, most nights will be spent in Berber camps. This is back to basics camping, which means no facilities; there is often just a drop toilet (hole in the ground) and buckets of water to use for washing yourself. This is a unique opportunity to gain an insight into the nomadic Berber way of life! |

Responsible camping
| • |
Always try to leave everything as you find it, i.e. camps, parks, hotels etc. |
| • |
Absolutely no rubbish to be thrown out of the truck. |
| • |
We have provided different methods of cooking i.e. gas, petrol, so asnot to be solely dependent on scarce wood and charcoal supplies. |
| • |
We carry a lot of purified water so no need to buy bottled water. |
| • |
Please get into the habit of not wasting water. Under some circumstances we may ration water for washing, but drink as much as you want. |
| • |
Any other drinks should ideally be in returnable bottles. |
| • |
At local wells or pumps, make sure to ask permission first before you take any water. |
| • |
Be careful with washing up in rivers or lakes. You may pollute the local population’s water source. |
| • |
You can have a nice fire without it being excessive. |
| • |
Always extinguish fire well before breaking camp. |
| • |
Please dispose of your cigarettes ends carefully, as this may be the start of the next bush fire. |
