Upon your arrival you will be met at Casablanca airport and transferred to your Riad in the heart of the medina in Marrakech. Enjoy the remainder of today at your leisure. Explore the vibrant Djemaa el-Fna square in the evening with the snake charmers, story tellers , food stalls and souks all in full swing.
This morning enjoy a guided tour of Marrakech, taking in all of the highlights of the Medina (old city centre) - the Koutoubia Mosque, palaces, souks and the old mellah (Jewish quartier). In the afternoon you have some free time, perhaps a visit to the peaceful Jardins de Majorelle to relax.
A free day to explore this fascination city at your leisure. Maybe visit the new town of Gueliz.
Today we transfer to Ouarzazate. From the flat plain of Haouz, the route climbs southwards and up to the passes of the High Atlas mountains, along twisty roads with marvellous views. We visit Ait Ben Haddou, an ancient fortified city, with beautiful examples of Kasbahs, some of which remain inhabited today. It has been the setting for many films including Gladiator.
Today we travel along the Valley of the Roses before making a stop at the Gorge du Dades for lunch. We continue along the foothills of treh Saghro Mountains to Merzouga where you meet your camel team and head into the desert for your overnight camp (the temperatures will be very high at this time of year and you will have the option to sleep in an air conditioned auberge at the base of the Erg Chebbi dunes).
We take our camels back to the edge of the desert before starting the journey over the High Atlas and Middle Atlas Mountains to Fes. Fes is the oldest and largest medieval city in the world and a bustling hive of activity.
This morning take a guided tour around the incredible, old medina - a heady mix of aromas, sounds and sights from the tanneries, spice tubs, pottery and donkeys! Enjoy free time in the afternoon to explore independently.
Today we visit the Roman city of Volubilis, a world heritage site dating back to AD40, this ancient city once ruled the whole Roman province of Mauritania. Enough remains to remind us of just how thoroughly the Romans equipped their great provincial capitals and is an invitation to travel in time. We also visit the town of Moulay Idriss.
Today we transfer to Tangier. The history of Tangier is very rich due to the historical presence of many civilizations and cultures starting from the 5th century BC. The wide boulevards of the French-built new town sprawl out around the medina, with the port to its east. The Grand Socco (old market square), connects the old and new. The gate to the medina near the Great Mosque is one of the more popular, as it connects directly to the beach walk. It is also the easiest entry to the most fascinating parts of the old parts of Tangier, and you will immediately find yourself walking in narrow streets which soon ends up in the Petit Socco.
We bid you farewell today and transfer you to the port after breakfast for your onward journey.
