Discover the mysterious Nazca lines, one of the world's greatest enigmas. Travel to the wide, arid plain near the city of Nazca, marveling at the ever-changing desert landscapes. The Nazca Lines, a series of massive figures etched into the desert floor, are only visible from the air. Take an included flight over the lines, and pick out the many stylized figures, including a monkey, a fish, a spider and a hummingbird created over 1000 years ago.
Lake Titicaca is not only the largest lake in South America; it's also overflowing with culture and history. Sitting at 3838m above sea level, this is the highest navigable lake in the world. Take a day trip on the lake to meet its most famous residents: the Uros people, who live on floating, man-made islands made of reeds collected from the lake. In the evening return to Puno, and enjoy some live music in this town famous for its festivals and dances.
Get a taste of the Amazonian side of Peru on this three-night jungle experience. Travel by motorized canoe two hours up the Tambopata River to Posada Amazonas, a community partnership eco-tourist project. Situated inside the community's private reserve, bungalows are built with one wall open to the jungle - you can't get much closer! Spend your days in the rainforest learning about traditional medicinal plants, and spotting birds and forest animals such as giant river otters and capybara, the world's largest rodent!
