Welcome to Turkey and the start of your holiday! We will be there to meet you at the airport and transfer you through to your hotel.
Today we enjoy a full days guided tour - including: St. Sophia the cathedral built by Emperor Justinian in 537 which was the largest church in Christendom for a thousand years, the Byzantine Hippodrome with its various monuments including a 3500-year-old red granite obelisk brought from Egypt and erected here in 390 AD. The Ottoman Empire produced marvelous architecture and you'll see two of its finest works: Topkapi Palace, home of the sultans, and the famed Blue Mosque of Sultan Ahmet I. Lastly today, the Spice Bazaar Bazaar.
Today we drive to Bursa, first Capital of the Turkish people. Visit Ulucami (Grand Mosque) – the largest Mosque in Bursa with the most striking example of Ottoman Turkish art and impressive calligraphic wall decorations from 1399 AD. Next, Koza Han, which means the "silk cocoon market". Followed by Cumalikizik Village an early ottoman settlement area. The village has maintained it’s historical character and presents one of the finest example of early Ottoman architecture.
Today we drive to Gallipoli and visit Anzac Cove , The Nek, Conk Bair, Lone Pine and 57th regiment memorial and the war museum, cross the dardanelles to our hotel.
After breakfast at the hotel we drive to legendary Troy; the site where the legendary Trojan War took place. We then cross the legendary mountain Ida and arrive into Pergamum and visit Acropolis.
We take a short drive to the ancient city of Ephesus where you will explore some of the best preserved theatres, fountains and buildings in the world. A definite must while in Turkey! We continue our drive to Pamukkale and short visit the area including ancient city upon arrival.
OPTION A: On this final day you farewell to Turkey as you will be transferred to Denizli airport for your flight to Istanbul. End of services. OPTION B: Morning departure for Cappadocia, on the way visit Konya and the Mausoleum of Mevlana - is the original lodge of the Mevlevi Whirling Dervishes, a mystical Sufi Muslim group. It contains the tomb and shrine of the Mevlana, or Rumi, which remains an important place of pilgrimage. 13th century Agzikarahan caravansary the land of Fairy Chimneys.
After breakfast you will enjoy a full days excursion in Cappadocia, including visits to the Kaymakli Underground City, the place early Christians hid from persecutors, Open Air Museum in Goreme to see the best examples of Byzantine art in Cappadocia in rock-cut churches with frescoes and paintings (10th to 13th century) and natural fortress in Uchisar.
On this final day you will be transferred to Kayseri airport for your flight to Istanbul where our arrangements end.
