Day 1: Beijing
Welcome to China and the start of your holiday! Enjoy an arrival transfer to our hotel, where you sit back and relax after your long flight.
Day 2: Beijing
This morning, we explore the heart of Beijing including the vast Tiananmen Square where Chairman Mao’s tomb and various monuments to the people are located. Dominating the city’s heart is the Forbidden City, a centre of power for five centuries and seat of the emperors. Entering through the Gate of Heavenly Peace, we enjoy a guided walk of this old city within a city. This afternoon we visit the Temple of Heaven where we can enjoy some time perhaps kite flying and continue onto Summer Palace, set on Kunming Lake, to view the lavishly decorated temples, halls and courts, reconstructed in 1902. Day 3: Beijing
Drive (1.5 hrs) and hike on the Great Wall at Mutianyu, which is a quieter and more pleasant stretch of the wall to walk on.We head back into Beijing and have a cooking class on dumplings with a local family in the Hutongs. Tonight we will take you to the Kung Fu show - an amazing display of kung fu told within a colourful stage show. Overnight - Rainbow Hotel
Day 4: Beijing - Xi'an
We will transfer you to the airport for the flight to Xi'an. On arrival we will transfer you to the hotel and in the afternoon, we willhave a city tour, seeing the Big Wild Goose Pagoda, the Great Mosque and the old city walls. Overnight - Rainbow Hotel
Day 5: Xi'an
Today's highlights will be a visit to Huaqing Hot Springs, a scenic spot in the shadow of Li Mountain. Before visiting the Terracotta Warrior archaeological site, we visit a workshop where we see the process used to create the terracotta figurines. In battle formation, the Terracotta Warriors are one of China’s most awesome sights. Overnight - Wan Nian Grand Hotel
Day 6: Xi'an - Chengdu
We will transfer you to the airport for the flight to Chengdu. On arrival we will transfer you to the hotel. Rest of the day is free. Overnight - Wan Nian Grand Hotel
Day 7: Chengdu - Lijiang
After breakfast you will venture to the Panda Centre. Located just 10km (6miles) away from downtown Chengdu, the Chengdu Panda Breeding Research Centre has been created and imitates the pandas' natural habitat in order that they might have the best possible environment for rearing and breeding. It's a full day excursion where you will also get to see other endangered species and the famous giant Buddha sculpture. This evening we will transfer you to the airport for the flight to Lijiang and on arrival we will check you into the hotel. Overnight - Sichuan Hotel
Day 8: Lijiang
Today enjoy an excursion to the stunning Jade Dragon Snow Mountain; its landscape includes one of the southernmost glaciers in the modern world. Shanzidou, the main peak of the mountain at 18,000 feet above sea level, looks like a gigantic dragon clad in white snow all year round. Access to the mountain is provided by a cable lift to Dragon Spruce Meadow, halfway to the glacier peak. Overnight - Hexi Hotel
Day 9: Lijiang
Today you dicover Tiger Leaping Gorge (Hutiao Xia). Some 16km long and up to 3000m deep, it is the worlds deepest canyon. The gorge is so narrow at various points that legend has it a tiger once escaped pursuit by leaping across. visiting the gorge, you’ll have a chance to hike along a section of the stunning gorge and take in the dramatic, yet stark scenery. Day 10: Lijiang - Guilin
We will transfer you to the airport for the flight to Guilin and on arrival we will transfer you to the hotel. This afternoon we take you to visit the Reed Flute Cave Within the cave there are enchanting stalagmites, stone pillars, stele, stone curtains and stone flowers. Then we continue on to Elephant Trunk Hill, located at the confluence of the Taohua (Peach Blossom) River and the Li River. Overnight - Hexi Hotel
Day 11: Guilin
Today you will enjoy a whole day Li River cruise. This morning your Li River cruise departs from downtown Guilin for a full days excursion. The 90km Li River cruise is the centerpiece of any trip to northeastern Guangxi Province. Gorgeous Karst peaks give you surprises at each bend of the limpid river under the blue sky. Bear witness to rural China as peasants reap rice paddies, school kids and fisherman float by on bamboo rafts. You will visit the local market and West Street in Yangshuo before returning to Guilin. Day 12: Guilin - Yangtze & Three Gorges
We will fly you to Chongqing, where you will board your Yangtze cruise boat Overnight - Plaza Hotel
Day 13: Yangtze & Three Gorges
Good morning from the River Yangtze! At 6340km in length, the Yangtze is the 3rd longest river in the world, neatly dividing China into north and south, and wending its way through eight very different provinces. Today you will have a shore excursion to Fengdu, the Ghost City. There are 75 Buddha and Tao temples in the town of Fengdu, most of them gathered on a famous hill named Ming Mountain. Legends said that Ming Mountain is one of the 72 graveyards for Taoism. Overnight - President Prime Cruise
Day 14: Yangtze & Three Gorges
Today cruising will include passing Qutang Gorge, Wu Gorge and Xiling Gorge (West Part). You will also have an excursion to Shennong Stream. The Shennong Stream Stream Valley is also the site of a number of historical battles in Chinese history. Parrot Gully within Yingwu Gorge along the Shennong Stream exhibits numerous large horizontal incisions carved high on the limestone, which are vestiges of an earlier aerial plank road; moreover, this trace of earlier civilization may be a clue as to how the coffin sites were accessed via an intricate network of aerial planks. Day 15: Yangtze & Three Gorges - Shanghai
This morning you will visit the Dam site and disembark from the cruise after lunch, where you will be met by our guide and transferred to the airport for the flight to Shanghai. On arrival in Shanghai we will transfer you to the hotel Overnight - President Prime Cruise
Day 16: Shanghai
Travelling west, we journey to Suzhou in Jiangsu Province. One of China’s most charming cities, it’s fame rests on it’s waterways, and canals that are dotted with traditional bridges, houses and gardens. A cruise on the Grand Canal exposes Suzhou’s beauty. Renown for it’s silk, we also visit a silk workshop before returning to Shanghai. Overnight - Holiday Inn Shanghai Vista
Day 17: Shanghai
Today, we visit the Oriental Pearl TV tower, explore the Jade Buddha Temple, charming Yuyuan Gardens, and the Old City where we can enjoy shopping on Nanjing Road. Overnight - Holiday Inn Shanghai Vista
