Day 1: Beijing

Welcome to China and the start of your holiday! Enjoy an arrival transfer to our hotel, where you sit back and relax after your long flight.

Day 2: Beijing

This morning, we embark on a guided sightseeing tour of the nation’s capital. Tiananmen Square, partly framed by illustrious Chang-an Avenue, is essentially the heart of Beijing. Heading back a few centuries, we step into the Forbidden City, the walled city of the former Chinese emperors. Entry was forbidden to all but those on imperial business until 1911, when the last emperor, Puyi, was overthrown. This afternoon we take rickshaws to explore the Hutongs of Beijing. As our trusty rickshaw driver peddles us through the network of alleys, old back lanes, traditional courtyards and compact houses. We also visit the Lama Temple.

Day 3: Beijing

Don some comfortable shoes. Today we drive out of the city to Badaling, where we can walk a section of the Great Wall. Some sections are fairly steep, but the walk on the vast wall that snakes for thousands of kilometres is one of those ‘must do’ experiences! Continue on to The Summer Palace, set on Kunming Lake, to view the lavishly decorated temples, halls and courts, reconstructed in 1902.

Day 4: Beijing

Today we visit the Temple of Heaven where we can enjoy some time perhaps kite flying or Tai Chi. At Silk Alley, there’s a chance to indulge in a little retail therapy.

Day 5: Beijing - Xi'an

This morning you will be transferred to the airport for your flight to Xian. Before visiting the Terracotta Warrior archaeological site, we visit a workshop where we see the process used to create the terracotta figurines. In battle formation, the Terracotta Warriors are one of China’s most awesome sights. We also visit the Shaanxi History Museum. Tonight you attend the Tang Dynasty Dinner show.

Day 6: Xi'an

Today, we visit Big Wild Goose Pagoda and the Great Mosque in the Muslim Quarter. Encircling the old city is Xi’an’s medieval City Wall, where we enjoy a hired bike ride. Enjoy the remainder of today in your own time to explore the beautiful city.

Day 7: Xi'an - Jiuzhaigou

Today you are transferred to the airport for your flight to Jiuzhaigou. Upon arrival we then enjoy a tour to the Huanglong Monastery and the multi-coloured calcium ponds.

Day 8: Jiuzhaigou

Today you have more guided sightseeing in Jiuzhaigou to explore more of this amazing reserve, which when translated means "Nine Village Gully". We will visit the Jiuzhaigou Scenic Reserve and Pearl Beach Falls, Nuorilong Falls and Long Lake before returning to your hotel.

Day 9: Jiuzhaigou - Chengdu

This morning you will be transferred to the airport for your flight to Chengdu. Here we then enjoy a visit to the Panda Breeding Centre. Afterwards, drive to Leshan where we visit UNESCO World Heritage Listed Dafo (Great Buddha), before returning to your hotel in Chengdu.

Day 10: Chengdu - Yangtze & Three Gorges

Today you board the train to Chongqing. Here you will be collected by your guide. Time at leisure here until you board your Yangtze cruise after dinner.

Day 11: Yangtze & Three Gorges

Day 12: Yangtze & Three Gorges

On board Cruise: Fengdu or Shibaozhai

Day 13: Yangtze & Three Gorges - Shanghai

Arrival at Yichang. Here you visit the 3 Gorges Dam Project. Then you wil be transferred to the airport for your flight to Shanghai, upon arrival here you will be met and transferred to your hotel.

Day 14: Shanghai

This morning upon arrival into Shanghai we will be there to meet you atthe station and transfer you to your hotel. Once known for its decadent magnetism that attracted fortune-seekers and adventurers, Shanghai looks like a European city in a Chinese setting. A stroll along the famous Shanghai Bund confirms this. Today, we visit the Oriental Pearl TV tower, explore the Jade Buddha Temple, charming Yuyuan Gardens, and the Old City where we can opt to shop on Nanjing Road and also visit a silk factory.

Day 15: Shanghai - Guilin

This morning you will be transferred to the airport for your flight to Guilin. Here you will be collected and transferred to your hotel. Then you pay a visit to The Reed Flute Cave. Within the cave there are enchanting stalagmites, stone pillars, stele, stone curtains and stone flowers. Then we continue on to Elephant Trunk Hill Located at the confluence of the Taohua (Peach Blossom) River and the Li River, this Hill is too famous to be missed.

Day 16: Guilin - Yangshuo

This morning your Li River cruise departs from downtown Guilin for a full days excursion. The 90 Km Li River cruise is the centerpiece of any trip to northeastern Guangxi Province. Gorgeous Karst peaks give you surprises at each bend of the limpid river under the blue sky. Bear witness to rural China as peasants reap rice paddies, school kids and fisherman float by on bamboo rafts. After passing many world renown sights such as Elephent Trunk Hill, Pagoda Hill and more you arrive in to Yangshuo where you can explore.

Day 17: Yangshuo - Guilin

A 90 minute drive leads us to Longsheng, to walk the rice terraces of the Dragon’s Backbone. Beginning at the base of Mt Longji the verdant green rice fields coil up the steep mountain, layer upon layer, climbing to its summit. Taking a walk along the stone paths no more than a metre wide, we’ll pass many of the Yao and Red Yao minority women, baskets on their backs, who are also climbing skyward. Reaching the ‘Seven Stars accompanying Moon’ lookout, soak up the spectacular views. The full panorama offers thousands of ribbon like terraces cascading to the meandering streams and valley floor beneath. Returning to Guilin for the night.

Day 18: Guilin

Today you will be transferred to Guilin airport for your flight to Hong Kong. Hong Kong International airport is a quick 24min journey on the Airport Express train running at 12 minute intervals. The train ride is not included as part of your itinerary. End of arrangements.
