Great Wall

Day 1: Beijing

Huan ying, welcome to China and the start of your holiday! Airport arrival transfer and hotel check in.

Forbidden City

Day 2: Beijing

This morning, we tour the centre of Beijing including the massive Tiananmen Square and the sprawling Forbidden City. Boasting some 9999 rooms, the city within a city was once the sole preserve of the Chinese emperors. Afternoon rickshaw ride through the Hutongs of Beijing and welcome dinner this evening.

Day 3: Beijing

Today, we drive beyond Beijing to Mutianyu and walk a section of the famous Great Wall. Built in the Ming Dynasty, a 6m wide pathway makes a formidable defence, following the highest contours of a steep range of hills. Return to Beijing by around 4 pm - 5 pm.

Summer Palace

Day 4: Beijing - Xi'an

This morning enjoy a visit to the Temple of Heaven followed by a visit the Emperor's Summer Palace, set on Kunming Lake and the gartantuous Silk Alley Markets. After we drive past the 2008 Olympic stadium commonly referred to as the ‘birdsnest’ and aquatic centre before boarding our overnight sleeper train to Xi'an.

Day 5: Xi'an

Arrive Xi’an and hotel check in. Later we tour the Terracotta Warrior archaeological site where some 7,000 warriors stand in battle ready position and a factory demonstrating how the warriors are crafted.

Day 6: Xi'an - Chengdu

Today we visit the Big Wild Goose Pagoda and take a bicycle ride or walk along Xi’an 9 mile in length, medieval City Wall. Free time in the afternoon before your transfer to the station for the sleeper train to Chengdu.

Day 7: Chengdu

Arrival at 11:03 am we will collect you and transfer you to your hotel. Afternoon tour a visit to the Tibetan quarter, south of the city, frequented by very few tourists and well worth the visit.

Day 8: Chengdu

After breakfast you will venture to the Panda Centre. The Chengdu Panda Breeding Research Centre has been created and imitates the pandas' natural habitat in order that they might have the best possible environment for rearing and breeding. It's a full day excursion where you will also get to see other endangered species.

Day 9: Chengdu - Emei Shan

Driving to Leshan our morning is spent exploring the the UNESCO World Heritage Listed Dafo (Great Buddha), which is carved into the red sandstone face of Lingyun Hill overlooking the treacherous confluence of the Min, Qingyi and Dadu rivers below it. Arriving we check into your hotel.

Day 10: Emei Shan - Shanghai

Enjoy a walking tour of Mt Emei area the highlight is the magnificent Wannian temple. Your guide will take on interesting walks to take in the scenery. We return back down by cable car then drive to Chengdu and then fly to Shanghai.

Day 11: Shanghai

Today we visit the Oriental Pearl TV tower, explore the Jade Buddha Temple, charming Yuyuan Gardens, and the Old City where we can opt to shop on Nanjing Road. This evening a cruise on the Huangpu river to take in the city lights.

Day 12: Shanghai

Today we take a high speed train journey to ancient Suzhou. A sort of oriental Venice, ancient Suzhou is interwoven by a series of canals and pretty waterways which feed a series of classical gardens, laid out here since the Song dynasty, a thousand years ago. We enjoy a cruise on the Grand Canal, tour the Humble Administrator’s Garden and visit a silk workshop. Return to Shanghai by around 5 pm.

Day 13: Shanghai

We bid you farewell with a transfer to the airport in time for your flight home.
