Great Wall

Day 1: Beijing

Welcome to China and the start of your holiday! Enjoy an arrival transfer to our hotel. On the way to the hotel we will visit The Temple of Heaven.

Forbidden City

Day 2: Beijing

Don some comfortable shoes. Today we drive out of the city to Badaling, where we can walk a section of the Great Wall. Some sections are fairly steep, but the walk on the vast wall that snakes for thousands of kilometres is one of those ‘must do’ experiences! Continuing a short distance from Badaling, we visit the tombs of the Ming emperors.

Day 3: Beijing - Luoyang

This morning, we explore the heart of Beijing including the vast Tiananmen Square where Chairman Mao’s tomb and various monuments to the people are located. Dominating the city’s heart is the Forbidden City, a centre of power for five centuries and seat of the emperors. We will also visit the beautiful Summer Palace. Later you will be transferred to the station for your overnight train to Luoyang.

Day 4: Luoyang

Arrive in Luoyang this morning and you will be met and tansferred to the hotel for beakfast. Later today we will take you on a guided tour to the Longmen Caves and White horse Temple. More than 100,000 images and statues of Buddha and his disciples were carved into the cliff walls for over a kilometre along the banks of the River Yi, just south of the city, these represent the peak of Buddhist Cave Art.

Day 5: Luoyang

Today we will take you on a guided tour of the Shaolin Temple. Rest of the day is free and at your leisure.

Day 6: Luoyang - Xi'an

This morning we take you to the train station to catch the train to Xi'an. On arrival we transfer you to your hotel and the rest of the afternoon is yours to explore at your leisure.

Day 7: Xi'an

Todays highlights will be a visit to Huaqing Hot Springs, a scenic spot in the shadow of Li Mountain. Before visiting the Terracotta Warrior archaeological site, we visit a workshop where we see the process used to create the terracotta figurines. In battle formation, the Terracotta Warriors are one of China’s most awesome sights.

Day 8: Xi'an - Guilin

Today, we visit Big Wild Goose Pagoda and the Muslim Quarter. Encircling the old city is Xi’an’s medieval City Wall, where we enjoy a hired bike ride. Later this afternoon you have a flight to Guilin. You will be transferred to the hotel on arrival.

Day 9: Guilin

This morning your Li River cruise departs from downtown Guilin for a full days excursion. The 90 Km Li River cruise is the centerpiece of any trip to northeastern Guangxi Province. Bear witness to rural China as peasants reap rice paddies, school kids and fisherman float by on bamboo rafts. After passing many world renown sights you arrive in to Yangshuo where you can explore before we take you back to Guilin.

Day 10: Guilin - Chengdu

This morning you pay a visit to The Reed Flute Cave. Within the cave there are enchanting stalagmites, stone pillars, stele, stone curtains and stone flowers. Then we continue on to Elephant Trunk Hill Located at the confluence of the Taohua (Peach Blossom) River and the Li River, this Hill is too famous to be missed. Afternoon flight to Chengdu, and transfer to your hotel.

Day 11: Chengdu - Emei Shan

After breakfast you will venture to the Panda Centre. Located just 10km (6miles) away from downtown Chengdu, the Chengdu Panda Breeding Research Centre has been created and imitates the pandas' natural habitat in order that they might have the best possible environment for rearing and breeding. It's a full day excursion where you will also get to see other endangered species and the famous giant Buddha sculpture.

Day 12: Emei Shan - Chengdu

Today we explore Mt Emai, here you will enjoy spectacular views from this sacred mountain to the Buddhists you will visit the Baoguo Temple and the Wannian Temple here before returning to Chengdu for the night.

Day 13: Chengdu - Yangtze & Three Gorges

After breakfast today you board the train to Chongqing where you will enjoy an afternoon city tour. Within its borders Chongqing encompasses a wealth of water reserves, mineral resources, dense forests, and abundant flora and fauna. The focal point of the unique Yangtze Three Gorges Dam, Chongqing is a tourist attraction as well as a commercial city. After dinner tonight you will board your 4 star Yangtze river cruise.

Day 14: Yangtze & Three Gorges

Good morning from the River Yangtze! At 6340km in length, the Yangtze is the 3rd longest river in the world, neatly dividing China into north and south, and wending its way through eight very different provinces. Enjoy spectacular vistas passing through all of the famous Gorges Qutangxia Gorge, Wuxia Gorge, Xiling Gorge on your way to Yichang.

Day 16: Yangtze & Three Gorges - Shanghai

Today marks the end of your cruise with arrival into Yichang. You will be met by your guide and transferred to the airport for your flight to Shanghai. On arrival you will be transferred to your hotel. Once known for its decadent magnetism that attracted fortune-seekers and adventurers, Shanghai looks like a European city in a Chinese setting.

Day 17: Shanghai

Today we have a full day sightseeing of this fascinating city. Highlights include: The Oriental Pearl TV Tower, Jade Buddha Temple, Yu Garden, Old City Area and The Bund.

Day 18: Shanghai

Travelling west, we journey by train to Suzhou in Jiangsu Province. One of China’s most charming cities, it’s fame rests on it’s waterways, and canals that are dotted with traditional bridges, houses and gardens. A cruise on the Grand Canal exposes Suzhou’s beauty. Renown for it’s silk, we also visit a silk workshop and the Humble Administrators Garden before returning to Shanghai.

Day 19: Shanghai

Today, you will be transferred to the airport for your departing flight.
