King Ramses II had his grand temple carefully angled and oriented in order that the sun's rays would align twice a year on the date of his ascension to the throne (21 February) and on his birthday (21 October) and illuminate the inner sanctum of the temple. This incredible natural phenomenon provides for a most spectacular sight as the sun illuminates the 3 statues of the living world, whilst the statute of Ptah - the god of darkness - remains in the shadows. The temple was re-located in a multi-million dollar operation in 1972, further up from the shoreline of Lake Nasser. In the temples new position the sun now strikes a day later than Ramses had originally planned.
On The Go offers an opportunity to witness the phenomenon on our special Glory of Light and Chase the Sun tours. Includes: Coach from Aswan to Abu Simbel in the early hours of the morn prior to the festival commencement. Guided visit to Abu Simbel, the sunrise event, entrance fees and visitor ticket for this excursion. Return coach journey to Aswan after the event.

This is the first time I have been with on the go and loved it.
Mervette Rosewell ,
All On the Go staff provided an amazing customer service.
Mark Gillman ,
Our guide, Hesham was absolutely fantastic :) Our group so much fun, great time all around.
I loved the whole trip. Very happy with itinerary, hotels, guides. Will back again:)
Egypt with On the Go was very organised and also felt safe.
Lisa Pacholok ,
Just wanted to email you guys to say HUGE thank you to an amazing tour that we had to Egypt! We are already on your website planning and counting pennies to see if Turkey or Vietnam will be our next tour with you guys. The service was really great - job well done! Seeing that this was our first overseas trip, we were so nervous but with On the Go representatives at the airport to assist, at the hotels to assist, made it soo much easier and we could just sit back and enjoy every moment. Told family about how great the service was and that we will use On the Go again!
Huge thank you to Corina at Flight Centre for all her patients with us......all the questions we asked.....i thought this poor chick will tell us to go somewhere els. Thanks Carina! Cant wait to hear all your stories about Vietnam.....give us some guidance of what to do and no to do when we go.....hahaha!
To Haytham in Egypt.....we spoke about it on our way back.....that part of the trip being so amazing was his presence and huge personality!! He spoiled everyone on the trip......when it was hot.....an ice cream would wait for you on the bus.......there were 2 birthdays in our group....when we were at certain places.....there was the birthday cake for them.
For myself and my husband.....our 1 year wedding anniversary on this trip......he organized at the Nubian restaurant a anniversary cake and a small gift to me....this is priceless.....he didnt have to do it but his heart is huge and it is one of the 3000 photo's that we will definately print to put on our wall!!
His patience level with a very difficult customer that was part of our group.....we all felt sorry for Haytham......she was not an easy person but he handeled her with respect and buckets full of patience. If it was me, would have thrown her overboard loooooong ago! Go Haytham!!
The south african group are planning a special box of south african goodies to post to him......just to say thank you for all the trouble, the effort and love he showed us South Africans. He knew a bit of Afrikaans language which was special for us.....that he could share as a personal joke between the south africans during our trip.
We had a bit of the other tour representatives when we went to Alamein and the churches, when we did the bolt on's.......they were great but Haytham made the tour by giving something of himself. The other guys were reserved and professional....nothing wrong with that at all. But Haytham is as special as the pyramids and the Nile......and do hope that he will stay with your company for many years to come just so that more people can experience his vibrant personality!!
To Alberto who helped to organize more Hibbuscis leaves for me to take back home and his funny jokes.....big hugs and take you!! To Ashraf, our driver, who couldnt speak much english but just wanted to buy us stuff......first it was warm tea and then cane juice....shame he just wanted to give us stuff! Very special guy! Huge thank you to them too!!
From a very sad South African who is now back home......wishing we were still in Egypt. Thank you to everyone for an awesome 1 year anniversary trip!
Michelle and Brad Venter,
I just wanted to let you know much of an epic time I had on holiday. I just came home from the 9 day guided your of Egypt. The king tutankhamun tour. Our tour guide was Haytham Youssry. He was amazing. My trip would have been good without him, but his hospitality made it epic. This was by far the best holiday of my life. And I know Haytham played a huge part in that. You are a very lucky company to have such a knowledgeable, charismatic, caring man on your payroll. He routinely went above an beyond the roll of a tour guide to make the entire group feel welcome and like family. He even literally saved my life when my insulin pump broke whilst on the falucca boat. I cannot say enough kind words about him!
Casandra Casey ,
This was our second On The Go Tour, and it lived up to the high standard we have come to expect. We were expertly looked after from the moment we stepped off the plane and were met by a representative who collected our bags and arranged for our visas and customs in a short time. We had arrived a day early hoping to do some sightseeing, and by the time we arrived at the hotel a guided day trip to Alexandria had been organised. This set the standard for our time in Egypt as a highly organised and efficient organisation of guides, drivers and administrators looked after our every need and ensured that the whole trip was enjoyable. Special mentions should go to Ahmed in Cairo who seemed to rarely sleep and was always there to make sure everything ran smoothly and all paperwork was in order; and our tour leader/guide for the Alexandria trip plus the King Tut tour - Momo. He is one of the best. He is passionate about his country and its history and we learned so much from him. He made the past come alive and his knowledge about customs, traditions and lifestyles of the ancient world sat comfortably with his understanding and presentation of modern Egypt. He worked hard to make the group feel like an inclusive family unit. He was always available, answered questions easily, introduced us to a variety of wonderful Egyptian food, and made all the difference to our stay in Egypt. At the end of the tour, although he must have been tired, he took us on the Cairo city tour which nicely concluded our stay in the country. We loved the country, its history and its people. Highlights are numerous - the Pyramids, Abu Simbel, many temples, the Egyptian museum, Luxor, Alexandria and Cairo itself. Tourist numbers are down in this country meaning we had lots of space and time to enjoy the sights without the crowds, and yet we always felt absolutely safe and comfortable. We would highly recommend an Egyptian tour - go soon before the crowds rediscover what they are missing.
