Morocco is located on the North-western tip of Africa and covers almost 446,550 sq km. It has a coast on the Atlantic Ocean that reaches past the straight of Gibraltar into the Mediterranean Sea. Morocco has a rugged landscape with the Rif Mountains running from the north-west to the north-east and the Atlas Mountains running down the spine of the country from the south west to the north east. Most of the south east portion of the country is in the Sahara Desert.
